So... finally watched it today. And really enjoyed it. It's clearly an Indiana Jones movie. And as other stated it is clearly not as good as part 1 or 3.... but after specifically rewatching the other movies in preparation for this... I'd say it's on par with Temple of Doom. I found the characters believable in their behaviour and motivations (* with one pet peeve I'll come to later) and Harrison Ford didn't show his age for this. Deaging technique worked fine for me and the McGuffin wasn't worse than others we had so far.

Spoiler:
I really liked how the story was dealing with Mutts death.

Two main gripes I had:

Spoiler:
Why did Germans flew with their plane so low that they could have been hit by spears(?) from the antique ships?!?

Spoiler:
It somehow annoyed me that Helena pointed out that there had to be more to the Grafikos. It's still an Indiana Jones movie... Let him it out point it out ffs.

And one "minor" pet peeve:

Spoiler:
Can't believe the Germans didn't kill Teddy after arriving at the cave of Dionysis. Only thing I deemed completly inconsistent.

But one thing i really had to point out is that I didn't liked the ending considering that most likely we'll never get another Indy movie. Sending of the heroes into the sunset in Lost Crusade was a worthy ending of the series. And I even liked the ending in Crystal Skull. But this one felt very open.... I'd wished for something different.

Spoiler:
Would have even accepted if he stayed in antique Greece.

So another film that was panned... and I still enjoyed. Actually I'd wished more Indy Stories were made available. But maybe the Chronicles of Young Indiana Jones are made accessible here again. And I'll certainly do another Indy marathon when the movie is made available for streaming.

So... I'd say 8/10.

Next up is MI:7 for me.

Saw it yesterday and yeah, I'd agree with that. Solid but not exceptional Indy movie - certainly way above Crystal Skull and on par with Temple Of Doom.

It doesn't help that (I think) Phoebe Waller-Bridge is quite a polarising actress. I reckon she's great, but am very aware she seems to rub others up the wrong way.

Finally saw this movie last night, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was definitely better than KotCS, but not on the level of the original three movies. Considering how old Harrison Ford is these days, he still pulled off the action stuff reasonably believably, and the de-aging for the segments in the past was very well done. Overall I'd give the movie a 7 out of 10 (so not great, but definitely not bad either).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Saw it today finally, and in general agreement with the previous posters. It was better than the previous one, particularly in terms of plot, characters, and the ending.

However, directing was not very tight, the movie felt bloated. Action scenes dragged on way too long. This movie is at least 20 minutes overlong. In this sense, 'Crystal Skull' was better put together. The heroes were captured, and not killed, too many times.

This was clearly "old Indy" movie, and for the most part it didn't even attempt to portray Indy as someone who was in his prime, or able to hang with the younger guys at every direction (which Crystal Skull still attempted with somewhat questionable results). Still, I think Harrison Ford was just too old for this movie. He did okay job and looked motivated and reasonably fresh for his age. Still, this movie should have been done 10 years ago, and suspect that the poor box office performance is at least partly due to that.
