Note that that's from the time when they had the same main body; there was also a chaosified variant of it, that got re-imagined a bit as the Helbrute, taking in elements from the very old ones as well as the more contemporary boxnaughts and forgeworld venerable dreads:

There were variant bodies and legs and even a variant right arm, but all of them were fully interchangeable (differences were minor) and made no difference to what you were running. The thing that determined what kind of dreadnought you had was the left arm, and you got the one indicated by the label on the blister you were buying. I had one of them - a Chuck, I think. I'm not sure whether I still have it, though, and it's been in pieces for a long time in any case (maybe I should put it together - if I can find the parts - and bring it by the FLGS just to see how many people recognize it?). Having started with that as my view of what a "dreadnought" should look like, I was a bit surprised when they redesigned them into the boxy shape we have now.

Furibundus Destroyer Dreadnought (lascannon / twin boltgun) - looks to be support/AT
Tsagualsa wrote:In their earlier incarnations the Contemptor was close combat-oriented, the Deredeo was assault support and the Furibundus was an intermediate 'Destroyer':
Hmm. I think the Contemptor does well enough as anti-tank that you wouldn't really need to have a dedicated class of dread, but if they kept it as a "Destroyer" class dreadnought, that would open up some interesting possibilities while still fitting in with the other dreadnought classes.
-Castra-ferrum: Zone Mortalis and confined spaces.
-Contemptor: Jack-of-all-trades
-Deredeo: Long range support
-Leviathan: Siege

Give the Fury some nasty weapons like Heavy Toxiferran flamers, Phosphex barrage launchers, Rad Cleansers, etc etc. Give it some horrible rule about being dripping in radiation and such like, so although it's got no melee weapons, anyone who comes with in 6 inches suffers -1 to their toughness or some malarky so it'll still kick your gak in.
