I'd say Warcry. The "Underworld band" title on the picture in the live show was really laughable (and sadly, it gave that feeling when seeing the poor number of miniatures in the band, too).

Hard disagree, great looking band. Certainly better than neckless banner boy.

I'm not a fan of the kruelboy aesthetic at all but the regular mooks in that warband along with the super looking ape hangers on save it tbh. Old World reveal has been the most significantly underwhelming, again. I like the knight model and the paintjob is cool but resin is disappointing (though not unexpected by now, to be fair) and scant mention of anything else. I just wish they'd can the reveals for it until they have something more substantial if all they're gonna do is dripfeed singular resin units bit by bit.

Age of Sigmar. They spent around 20 minutes talking about boring Epic, when we have a huge range revamp that got maybe a quarter of the time. Not to mention the huge missed opportunity of dropping another model from the second Dawnbringers book.

'Primaris Lieutenant' is a meme, because it feels like every second limited release model is a Primaris Lieutenant, and almost every larger release is accompanied by another one (just look into the Space Marine Datasheets, they have like 12 different Primaris Lieutenants, and that's just the ones that are distinct enough to warrant separate sheets).

Thank you!

I saw 40k gatherings with that...

I'm not interested in playing marines at all, but with Mechanicum and Solar Auxillia I might start with that game. Those Malcador tanks and the Sentinels look great.

It’s just going back to its roots. The original epic was 100% marines, and it diversified massively. There will be so much pressure on Gw to go through all the relevant armies from 40k as well. Even more so than Titanicus.

Well, the 1st edition Space Marine box was 100% Marines, but the whole game started with Eldar and Orks too (there were even models and expansions shown in the rulebook) while still set in the Heresy era.

This time I can see them just releasing a whole lot of HH stuff before adding something else.

Looks like the band actually has 8 minis it (they didn't show one on the preview picture for some reason), they have the picture up on Warhammer community. Personally I really like the band.

General thoughts on a few things…

Bretonnian Banner is resin, so basically DOA. They will kill that game if all they release is resin. Luckily I have plenty of Bretts waiting to be painted.

Excited for epic, but really not liking the round bases….seems so unnatural for the infantry to look like that. Visually it’s really throwing me.

I didn’t log on to watch so no real disappointment for me as I expected wry little.

Exactly, they forgot to show the drummer there.

I suspect a lot will depend on how much the new Epic boxset sells.

Really hoping the value is reasonable and they don't go too much for the 'detail/boutique' angle. I already have a large collection so it won't really affect me, but I was hoping this new release would really help bolster the community and get a lot more people.playing Epic.

They insisted during the stream that there are also plastic kits coming. They're just not showing them (yet).

If you want to split hairs, the plastic Knights were specifically mentioned as being useable in 40k

Even better, the original Cerastus release got 40K rules before they appeared in HH, so it's technically 40K model to begin with

As in got a free PDF before the release of Conquest? That doesn't make it a 40k model chief.

Huh. Forgot this was happening.

Not much there really. Some interesting bits and bobs. Definitely not sold on cities of sigmar (all the armor looks weirdly oversized, like kids playing dress-up), the other minor lines are just ok.

Epic HH is... fine? It seems a small box to me- its weirdly disingenuous to talk about 106 and 104 'models' on each side, when its really the number of stands that matter. And... there aren't that many. Teeny-tiny forces for an 'Epic' scale game.

By way of comparison, the old yellow 'Epic Armies Battle Group' box for Space Marine contained 4 forces (eldar, chaos, guard and marines) and was a 9"x6"x5" box with 150-200+ 'models' per side (it says 650 total). I think it cost maybe $40 or $50. Obviously I don't expect that cost ratio or a box that mixes forces like that these days, but 48 stands of troops, a handful of vehicles and a pair of warhounds is pretty paltry for the scale.

I wonder if it is mostly characters that are going to be in resin. Units that aren't going to be high volume sellers like infantry and standard units. That's the vibe I am getting. A bit like GW has approached Horus Heresy. A lot of those specialist characters have been released in resin, but infantry, tanks, and so on are all in plastic.

Just a thought...

It will be a launch box that will sell out in a matter of seconds on the website, with LGS not getting the stock they ordered.
Anyone that missed out that wants to play, will have to pay the double/triple priced mark ups of the individual releases several months later. By then GW will have moved onto hyping the next AoS4 edition.

Hopefully not - Leviathan is out of the way freeing up more production slots, and GW are suggesting lots of support and additional releases. The Horus Heresy boxset is still available even now, which also has the rules & templates. It'll be interesting to contrast how long this lasts and if it meets internal projections to be a "success".

I should very much hope that Core units and others you need in spades will be plastic. Anything else would be nonsensical to the point that, and I only say this rarely, it would be too nonsensical even for GW.

With regard to the reception of the resin characters, I wonder what's going on with GW marketing. One of the bigger issues with old Fantasy was the partially dire need for revamped Core regiments. As the argument against starting a new army often went at the time, what good does a shiny new centerpiece monster do if you have to spend time and money on hopelessly outdated Core models to play it. That didn't help the game's health when it already had enough other problems. But that's Kirby's GW for you.

Now we're seeing a long marketing campaign that suffered no shortage of criticism and provided ample opportunity for GW to reflect on how they want to continue it. As we move on to actual model reveals, they choose to show new character only, with no clear idea of how the larger army around them is going to look. "Some old kits, some new kits" is not a satisfying statement in that regard. It's also kind of odd that the company that built its success on massive plastic miniatures ranges tries to drum up excitement with the resin sideshow even though they keep saying there will be new plastic regiments. It all seems poorly thought through.

In their earlier incarnations the Contemptor was close combat-oriented, the Deredeo was assault support and the Furibundus was an intermediate 'Destroyer':

Note that that's from the time when they had the same main body; there was also a chaosified variant of it, that got re-imagined a bit as the Helbrute, taking in elements from the very old ones as well as the more contemporary boxnaughts and forgeworld venerable dreads:

The current-day Forgeworld Deredeo, however, is more modelled after an entirely different chassis: the Dreadnought from Advanced Space Crusade:

So who knows what a reimagined 'Fury' Dreadnought might be inspired by, maybe one of the as-of-yet unused Imperial Robots?

Obviously some of them have inspired current-day sculpts (the Castellax, the Kastellan, and the Vorax, for example) but there is still ample material to touch up for a modern audience.
