Okay guys.

This thread is going to be temporarily locked so everyone reads this. In a few days I will unlock this thread again and anyone who does not heed this warning will have their account temporarily suspended.

When you attach an image to a thread, you are uploading that picture to Dakka's server and from then on we are hosting your picture and paying for the bandwidth to display that image everytime someone loads a page with that picture on it.

We offer this service for free to all users, but the only thing we ask is that attached pictures MUST BE MINIATURE GAMES RELATED.

In a thread like this, you are free to LINK to any (reasonable) pictures hosted on other sites, but please do not abuse our attachment system by uploading non-miniature games related pictures to our server.

Thanks,

and if you have any questions, please PM me.

yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!

Ok.

The war is officially back 'on' like Donkey Kong.

Just remember everyone, if you are ATTACHING pictures by using the 'attachment' feature at the bottom of the post then all pictures attached this way must be miniature game related.

Thanks, and game on. . .

I cannot see that as being Mini related. I just don't get it Yak.

Do we post pics of figs? Or pics that beat eachother?

When you view a picture on the internet, it is hosted by a site and they pay for the bandwidth everytime that image is accessed by someone (they look at that page).

When you LINK an image into this forum, everytime you load this page, whomever is hosting that image is the one paying for that bandwidth.

The image I LINKED to in my above post is from some magazine site I found doing a google search. I LINKED that image into this forum by using the [ IMG ] tags. You can even right-click on the image, 'copy image location' and then paste that address in your web browser to see the exact URL of where that image actually is hosted.

Dakka is not hosting that image because I simply LINKED to it.

LINKING to a picture is totally different from ATTACHING an image to your forum post. When you ATTACH an image to your forum post (by using the 'attachments' feature at the bottom of the text editor window when you're making a post) you are then uploading that image to the Dakka server and from then on whenever anyone loads the page we are paying for the bandwidth to display that image.

Do you get the difference?

LINKING
pretty much any (family-friendly) picture on Dakka is fine, but you can only ATTACH miniature games related pictures to your posts.

Edit: Oh, and if you want an explanation of how this game works, go back to page #1 and check out the rules!
