With 2008 just a few months away I wonder if GW will celebrate this milestone with a new printing of codex Dark Eldar, maybe with a gold cover or a hologram?

10 years is a long, long time for a GW book to be in print, some armies have gone through 2 or 3 codexi during that time but DE just keep on trucking.

I thought we might get one in 2009 for the Orks but it looks like GW just got impatient and had to go change it.

Well, alot of people view the DE codex revision as a new codex. I, however, dont follow that crap.

The revision gave us crappy ill thought out vehicle upgrades. Hell even the names were stupid. I recall Andy Hoare asking about the new wych HQ's on the GW board and I remarked that they should have something that differentiates them better from the archon and dracons...so what the hell do they call them? Archite and drachite....Wow! Roll me in batter, drop a fat woman on me and call me a pancake! Fething genius!

I will admit that they cleaned up the wych entry, because the seperate wych weapons were kinda dumb (except for the hydraknives in the lillith retinue...now that was a scary upgrade for an entire unit of wyches) and it made it more cleaner.

*breathes*

yeah, its time. Ignore the necrons and finally dedicate time to the DE. Though, I am sure with the recent trend that GW is going through with their codexes, reaver will be increased in price while only allowing one special weapon and removing the combat drugs.

Copy and paste throughout the rest of the codex.

Because then, and only then, will Jervis' 21st chromosome abundant spawn be able to understand the nuances of checkers.

While Hellfury's comment could have maybe been, um, more "diplomatically" phrased, I agree with it completely.

IMHO, this trend of Jervis simplifying everything that he puts his hand to will simply cost GW in the long term.

Why ? Because, yeah, you might get thick-as-2-short-planks 10 and 12 year olds to play in the short term, but what about the older veterans (like me)?

Also, what about the halfway cluey kids who look for a challenge and can understand and apply the rules? They won't stay in the hobby if it just keeps getting simpler and simpler, and becomes checkers.

If GW and JJ do to the Vanilla Marines (which, like it or not, are the WH40K cash cow) what they appear to be doing to every other Codex under revision...well, it might just bite them.

And on another point, Pariah...if JJ son's is that thick, well, we won't have to worry about him being able to read these posts !

No-one can understand GW's rules.

While I agree with your argument, I thought it was generally agreed that GW don't care about vets since it is the kids who spend the most money. There is a constantly renewing supply of 10-12 year olds boys.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

If Jervis'  12 year old (?) son understood that sentence I wrote, then its Jervis who is the real special olympian for not only underestimating the intelligence of his own son, but that of the youth at large.

Either way, its a sad state of affairs.

Well if he's six or eight or whatever he shouldn't be on message boards like this to begin with.

back on subject...

i was at the GW store in Springfield, Va this weekend. They has a store copy of the DE codex. I was surprised since all the stores near me in NJ don't. The shirt told me the book was out of print and a new codex would be out next year. Well, we could all hope.

I very much dislike whenever anyone lowers their expectations of kids due to a perceived lack of intelligence. If a kid didn't know the meaning of a certain word or phrase, like schadenfreude 'cuz it's a fun word, they can either ask or I assume they know what it means. Maybe it's just my experience since my brother picked up and played the Star Wars CCG game very well and made excellent decks when he was only 10. It was one of the hardest games to comprehend; nevermind him playing with manipulation-type decks.

There can be no doubt that they will release a new DE codex, the real question is if it will be as good as the Eldar codex.

40k Rules/Codices = Kids

CoD, Apocalypse = Vets (I sure didn't have 3000+ points when I was a teenager, it takes a full time income to buy that many models).
