Well the local FLGS is doing a Tale of 10 Gamers so I decided to start the Ultramarines Fast attack (Blood Angel) army I've been thinking of.  So I signed up, picked up a box of assault marines put the Heroes DVD in the player and got to converting.

Group Shot:

Sarge and Dual wielder:

Grenade Thrower, and the 2 leapers:

Close up of Sarge:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/Foda_Bett/Tale%20of%2010%20Gamers/9-1/MVC-101F.jpg
I'm thinking of painting the middle section of the tech piece like a scrolling sign, do you think "GIRLS" is to tacky?
The diamond plate on the base is kind of washed out in this photo.

Jumping off a dead bug:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/Foda_Bett/Tale%20of%2010%20Gamers/9-1/MVC-102F.jpg

Its amazing how sheet metal just lands at funny angles in an explosion:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/Foda_Bett/Tale%20of%2010%20Gamers/9-1/MVC-103F.jpg

A good old fashioned "eat this" pose:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/Foda_Bett/Tale%20of%2010%20Gamers/9-1/MVC-104F.jpg

Its always important to get the drop on your foes:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/Foda_Bett/Tale%20of%2010%20Gamers/9-1/MVC-105F.jpg

I'm going to add some more small rubble to their bases but I think for the most part they're done. I'm wondering if I should differentiate between squads by the basing material.
One squad is jumping over bricks, one's on tech bases, one's got Tyranid bits, etc... They'd all have a central city fight theme to match the rest of my marines but looking at bases is a lot faster than finding kneepad numbers.

What do you think?

Very dynamic and cool. A wee bit OTT, but hey it's GW. Might be good to sprinkle in some more "boring" guys here and there too. The fist guy launching himself looks like he should be launching into an enemy and not pointing at them, but I still think it looks okay despite it.

Well I've put down a black primer, a Mordian blue base, then an Ultramarines blue highlight.

Well its Sunday and its time for an update!

Group of 5:

Dead Nid Guy:

Albert:

Well I added Astronomicon grey to all places that would be white, then added skull white. Added Boltgun metal to the guns and metallic parts. I tried adding a stark panel lining but after doing dead nid guy, and 1 leg of Ned, I decided I didn't like how it came out so I stopped.

What do y'all think?

Cool. How are you going to paint the bases? Some ink washes and highlights planned for the metal, I assume?

I see one problem, which is that you seem to have a rather rough texture on the models. Did something go wrong with the primer? If not, time to thin your paint more or buy new paint. The rough texture makes it all but impossible got get a really snappy finished look.

The bases will be fitting with my city-fight table
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v314/Foda_Bett/Scenery%20Finished/
The metal will definitely get some washes, I've never really done highlighting on metallics so I guess its time to try.
The primer did end up a bit fuzzy but mainly around the ankles. What I'll do is heavily weather the rough areas so it looks like stuck on mud.

Hmm, the gallery seems to be empty.

You've gotta click on the subfolders within the gallery.  Very cool and very built up terrain.  Lots of tall buildings for them to jump around in ^_^.

Looking forward to seeing these guys finished and on that busy table tearing some people apart.  They will work wonderfully in that sort of environment!

Yeah I don't know why but it seems the pics are washed out. The eyes REALLY pop in real life as they're tamiya clear gloss red over chainmail. The metallics have had a P3 armor wash done to them (love that stuff). Finally the chest eagles are gray with white highlights, which kind of shows in sarge's pic but not very well.

Something you might try is keeping the very recesses of your whites, black, instead of covering every nook and cranny with the grey, you might apply it selectively and try bringing out more of the detail.

I started my Death Company as well. They will all be using the black templar's chained weaponry. I figure a blood crazed psychopath can't be trusted to keep his weaponry on hand so they have to bolt it to him.
This first guy will be shoving his bolt pistol down a gaunts throat while throwing his chain sword into another's head.

In case you're wondering where all the jump packs are I've decided to leave them off for now.  I hate the huge seam lines all over the packs and it takes a lot of work to fill just a few at a time.  I'm also experimenting on putting different ornamentation on the tops of the packs (like in the vet standing on the carni head) to make them stand out a bit more.

Thanks Scarab. Mephiston will get a blade for his sword after he's painted. All of the power/force weapons in the army that are single bladed are being replaced with clear coctail swords. It makes them different and even gives a bit of a glow.
I think reading comics for 20 years, watching to many action movies, and building a couple hundred of boring bolter posed marines makes me want to liven these guys up. The Death Company/Bug hunters are really OTT but it makes them stand out from the crowd. I'm thinking of mounting them all on terminator sized bases to help with the balancing problems some of them are having, and to be able to add more scenery/victims to their bases.
The chain is from some $1 necklace at walmart. I always check out the cheap jewelry sections of stores just to see what neat shapes they have. Oddly enought the chain is exactly the right size as the ones sculpted onto the weapons.

The marines that are pictured above were finished (excpet for the death company) and are sitting in the case of my FLGS.
I'll see if I can get some bette pictures this weekend of the finished models.

While waiting for glue to dry on the warhound seats I just started painting the death company tonight:

Marine 1 "The strangler":

Marine 2 "Jump Kick":

Marine 3 "Sliced":

Marine 4 "Jaw breaker":

And finally the model I'm going to use for Shrike (so I can have Raven guard too):

Got some ideas: - Marine striking two nids heads together!
- Marine with some kind of wrestling ( SmackDown possible ) move tossing him into wall!
- Then my favourite: Marine is standing top of somekind of wall and jumps there on to the nid!!!
- Two marines throwing nid.
- Marine doing 619 to nid on the lightpole

Hope these inspired you, keep goin'

Oh, by the way, heres piccie from 619, if you dont know what is it: http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/pictures/r/reymysterio/53.jpg
