Armand, his replacing 4 mega deals lost in the mail is pretty spot on, imo. He has fixed all errors for myself and friends who ordered, but current production levels and overseas shipping have made it a bit slow.
Also, just got off the phone with Miniature Market. They said they still only have rulebook and cards. Whereas Warstore had models at GenCon, and shipped all but one item I ordered this week on the same day.
Bummer as far as Miniature Market goes, although they now said they expect stock end of Aug or early Sept (used to be start of Aug).

I'm sorry guys, I think I didn't express myself well.
I am actually very happy about the way Dave has been managing this crisis, and I don't think he could have done anything better (well, apart from the last two days of non communication, but that's a little thing).
Mine was more a need for sharing this experience, a way to "share the pain" if you want, since my holidays (and my birthday) are gone now, and I didn't have even one of the games I had planned with my friends...
Anyway, I thank you all for bearing with me in this..

Armand, totally understood, and I feel the same way. My birthday passed this weekend with no rulebook, hence my calling Miniature Market today to let them know they needed to go ahead and ship it, given the amount I ordered. At this point, I really think I should use the Warstore for preorders, they just communicate much better.

Orlanth wrote:If you can afford upgrade straight to Mega.
Not only is the deal better in terms of saving the army list is better also. The army boxes are made to visually compare with each other. Normally this works out, however the PHR large deal is really wierd, you have no choice as to how you deploy your walkers. You must add the four Ares and two Phobos to a single unit in the Poseidon and must have the two Zeus in a Neptune due to how the army lists are organised. UCM is strong when organised this way, PHR is not. You could buy an extra Neptunes and walkers to open things up a bit, but that would take you halfway to upgrading to the price of a Premium mega deal. If you can afford the extra £80 do so.
If you cant buy one Neptune, one pair of Phobos, one pair of heavy walkers (Odins, Hyperions or Enyos) and one pair of Triton A's to add to your Large deal, each is a seperate blister. This will open things out for you a lot and still fit in the KR mulitcase you get, get them from another retailer for your 10% discount. I recommend Firestorm Games, they are quick, will deliver to Oz for free and are in stock.
I can't really afford to add any for a few more weeks (not that it matters, be weeks to get my army deal anyway), but looking in the book im not quite clear why it's bad like you're saying. I guess I'll need to play before i get it =)

Feel for youwaiting for figures, mine arrived wednesday but was away from home so only got to open them yesterday.
Very impressed. I had a quick trawl through, I ordered 2 large armies and cases, very well packaged and no damage. I found about 3 small bubbles on a very close inspection, 2 are a nothing (ie will disapear with paint) 1 however is about 2mm on the tail of a big drop ship. could eaither easily fix or as the wife suggested would make nice battle damage!
Really, GW could learn from this guy, the detail is awsome and the casting just mocks fine cast. There is cleaning up to do, the odd flash line, normal stuff like that, but I'd say believe the hype!
Rule book is VERY pretty, but flicking through does read like a technical manual with lots of acronyms, I hope a proper read through will make more sense.
So far, happy camper!

Yeah, in the newsletter it seems they had to prioritize fulfilling their agreements to their first 2 distributors, then roll it out to everyone else... a shame since I apparently didn't order from a store with access to those first 2 distributors

When in reference to the rulebook, could this instead mean a localised version?
Is it to early for the first foreign language editions yet?

Imagine you bought an army boxset for a variant of 40K. In the boxset you had some Assault Terminators, Devastators and a Land Raider, plus other stuff, you got a discount on the army boxset over buying models individually so you were happy, and you liked all the models within. However due to the rules of the new codex all the marines had to have transport and can combine to share. However the boxset didn't have enough Rhinos so the Devastators had to combine with the Assault Terminators and share a Land Raider to make a legal list. As a result while the units were good and the deal good the provided army list sucked until you bought more stuff.
This is where PHR are right now.

For what it's worth, I watched a game between my friends yesterday with one using the PHR large set. Having the command walkers in their own drop ship worked fine- he kept them back and safe and used scout Janus to extend their range. Put his heavy drop ship right up the middle and had anti-tank / anti-air to cover the bulk of the field. The whole thing worked together just fine, although adding a few options for variety in how you run things is a good idea.

With some Poseiden carrying the main Type-1 squad and pairs of Janus walkers spreading out some backup AA support, I can see it working decently well.

My items have been preordered so hopefully I get them in a timely manner.
That said I already own the book and it worries me that everything with passive counter measures have active counter measures too. I would've thought it'd be one or the other thus making R(F) something actually useful. I'd love some feedback on this.

Can't really disagree, but R(F) seems to be intended to be used against buildings and to do horrible things to infantry in general.

Yup you got it right! Hitting buildings while enemy infantry is inside is the best way to weaken the crap out of them before you try to root them out with your own. For example, I play PHR (so range is not the issue, movement is), but with R(f) if I am planning on taking an objective from someone... I can pretty solidly hurt a building, which then drops some rocks on the infantry. Actually in one occasion Not only did hit the buildings with my walkers (and took out about 4 damage points on the infantry inside) my athena shot at the building... taking it down to 1 HP... and then someone shot my athena which CRASH LANDED into the building, taking it down and killing all the remainder inside...
Needless to say this games is awesome and adds the cinematic to cinematic gaming.
BTW, I guess I can talk about the models since I just recieved a shipment of a Large Army box and trinklings of other models. So I just got my huge order of a PHR Large Deal in (with other additions to it). I can at least confirm on my end that the casting quality has went up tremendously from the first wave (where people were complaining about bubbles and this and that - its resin for christ sake but w/e). I have counted - are you ready for this - 3 bubbles on the entirety of my mega army (we ain't gonna count flash cause if you cant deal with flash you are being lazy). As mentioned before, the Poseidon had a bubble - but contrary to other videos it WAS NOT in the missile pod, rather in the optics below the ship (near the nose - which also had no bubbles). The other 2 bubbles occured in the same location for two different models - the Tritons. In the missile rack provided for the triton, on both models, the SAME missile has the SAME bubble... so it might be a place where it either vents to cool or something. But, the good news is that both bubbles are so minute that I could take a booger and fill in the hole - in all seriousness though you take a small ball of green stuff.. stick it on there... and when its painted, unless I tell you there was a bubble, I bet you won't find where the bubble is !
Also, no bubbles on the walkers feet, none on the noses of any of the ships or their missile pods (except the tritons), none on the weapons, and none on any detailed places. So essentially, the bubbles are nothing like the "horrors" (which in my honest opinion, it was people overreacting and LOOKING for mistakes on the model... I cannot stress that me, with 20/20 vision, REALLLLLLY had to look for a mistake to find it) we saw in the 1st wave of Hawk's models and DEFINITELY not the horrors of GW's "finecast."
The flashing is so easy to take off that I took a brush and literally brushed them off with little to no bump left on the model. I mean if you want it to be perfect then I would suggest never buying resin ( ), but with the easyness to take off this resin I was slightly amazed.
I will say that the PHR APC's have gotten SLIGHTLY better with the casting and fitting. Its not the bubbles, but the two pieces beforehand had some slight problems fitting together (there were some gaps and seams that were hard to fit in - the back door of the apc wasn't matching its pair so on and so forth). On the 4 APC's I got, 3 are great. The seam in the front is muchhhhh smaller then what I have seen in previous APC's people have gotten, and the back door is passable (just makes it looks like two ramps). The fourth one is ok... the seam in the front are like the other 3, but the back is very mismatched, and thankfully I don't really care but someone who has OD will probably tear their hair out.
Overall - this is how I would rate the second wave of models from Hawk Wargames (anything in the parenthesis would be 1st wave models):
Bubble count - low (common to low)
Flashing count - high (high)
Fragility - very low (low)
Detailing - exquisite (exquisite)
Customizability - PHR: Very high (very high)
Prices - Bah its a hobby... (ditto)
Ability to magnetize - High - but be careful to to drill (with the bubbles in the first wave, I would say medium due to the high chance of hitting the bubble)

Just picked up the rulebook! All I can say is, that terrain - , and a real bargain for just 15GBP for a pretty substantial book! Only read the background so far, which seems pretty neat.
Picked up some Bear APCs as well just to see what the models are like (not really sure if I will collect UMC yet, but they looked too much like the Aliens APC's do had to go for them! ) Again, first impressions are very good, and lovely little casts!
