Love the Macharius, love the Quatermaster and servitors, the Tau Drone plane thing gets a 'meh', but I don't particuraly like the Tau anyways.

The experimental rules for the Macharius and Remora are at Forgeworld's site.  Vulcan Mega Bolter is S6, AP3, Heavy 15!!

How unbelievable cool is that Mecharius??? I want to start a Death Korp army just because of that thing (Not that I didn't want to start a DKoK army in the first place, but still).

The Korp stuff Forgeworld is releasing amazes me over and over again.

Methinks they screwed up the points cost for the Macharius. 110 points for a model with two battle cannons standard seems a wee bit low.

I love the Vulcan bolter. Love it.

But I don't want the model. Put it on something else, and I'll be sold.

Those rules supplied with it are certainly wrong. 110 points for something with an S6 AP3 Heavy 15 Gun? Not possible unless someone's gone stark raving.

The 110 point mark is only for the basic tank with double battlecannon. Still pretty cheap.

The Macharius is more than 110pts. Try 300+ points.

S6 AP3 H15...... ouch. Throw in two heavy bolters and two heavy stubbers. Need some infantry cleared?

I like.... a lot!

I have IA:5 at home and will post the point cost when I return there.  I'll tell you now- it's not 110pts.

The Vulcan Mega-Bolter doesn't seem worth it- it's too many points invested in a single weapon. A "weapon destroyed" result effectively neuters a Vulcan tank, where as the double battle-cannon tank only looses one of its two cannons. It's the Basilisk versus Medusa arguement, only this time you're paying substantially more for the Basilisk.

How easy can you get a weapon destroyed on a superheavy?

Glance tables are basically the same except for the 6.  It's also an option to lose a weapon on the penatrating hits. While normally this wouldn't matter with things like the Baneblade because it has eleventy billion guns, it does matter for a one-trick pony tank.

The points and a few other things are wrong on their site,
for example they called the Tau Remora a Leman Russ Battle tanks in it's bio.

It is 300+ points for the basic macharius and they add the upgrades from there.

Don't have the IA with me.

I'd love to use Remoras as Battlesuit stand-ins.  Looks like minus the wings, they'd be of appropriate size.

In IA:5 The Marcharius with battlecannons are 325pts. Vanquishers are another +50

And both suffer from the 'Big Gun' syndrome, where it doesn't take much to shut the tank up. This is why the Baneblade is better. Stunning the Battlecannon doesn't stop the other 800 weapon systems from firing.

Hmmmm... correct me if I've misread your post.  Stunning/destroying one battlecannon on the Marcharius won't stop the the 2nd one from shooting.  They're not twin linked- they're two different systems.

But the Vulcan Bolter is so cooool!

If I were to use one it would only be in Apocalypse games so the competitive-ness is outweighed by the cool-ness. I'll definitely be buying a plastic Baneblade, I may need to pick up a Macharius or two (one w/ Battlecannons and one w/ Vulcan Bolters).

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

For the record, the default Macharius is technically equipped with one main weapon system, a Battle Cannon with Ordnance 2/ 5" blast. Which essentially means it's one gun with 2 shots. So, in theory, one armament destroyed should take out both 'guns'.

I have no idea where you people are getting 110 pts from, the PDF has it at 325 base. Unless they changed it since this was posted? (Something I've noticed they do from time to time)

I don't even play Tau and I want a couple of Remoras (I thought they were Aeronautica when I first saw them at GamesDay). But the Vulcan Mega Bolter Macharius makes me want to weep. Weep with sweet tears of joy.

Also, did anyone else notice the Quartermaster's 'casualty' and the servitor carrying helmets and great coats? Great touch. I may pick one of those up just for the servitors.

A number of the larger weapons have seen their rules change in Apocalypse. If you check the Wolfhound Titan datasheet from Apoc it lists the Mega-Bolter as an S6 AP3 Heavy 15 weapon.

Yea, I have a print out with the 110 pts base. Probably changed it after I e-mailed them about it.

That Mach would be nearly useless in a close in battle. Lots of space where those big guns can't touch you.

If it were real, of course. Hopefully the Vulcan Bolter will make an appearance on a FW bunker in the future.

The Remora is pretty cool, and the Quartermaster and his mates are awesome.
