Was wondering if a painting expert could spare a tip or 2.  Trying to find a good highlight for blood red.  Firey orange is about the only thing I can think of.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

It is, used well and in moderation. Here are your best next steps:

75/25 Blood red fiery orange
50/50 Blood red fiery orange
25/75 Blood red fiery orange

Glaze of very very very thinned red ink.

You can cut out the first and last step depending on how much time you have.

chuck has it bang on
on it's own, fiery orange is to harsh, but mixed with Blood red, it makes a very smooth highlight, and looks less orangey (believe it or not) than using blazing orange

I use it a lot. I love it.

I wet the area down. Then a put a bit of it on a wet brush and glide it along the edge of the painting area (tip pointing outward, not downward). the orange bleeds down via capiliary action. WONDERFUL results.

Check out page 9 of my Hive Tyrant thread for a good look at how reds and oranges look together (make sure you look at both posts I made on that page for the full spectrum of colors):
