This is more directed at those who have seen the Apocalypse book (which i assume has the stats), but is it's role? Other than the obvious weapons swap, what is the Hellhammer's main use? How does it differ from the Baneblade?

A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

It is alittle more geared towards anti-infantry.

The hellhammer cannon is one better in strength and AP, but has a template 3" smaller than the Baneblade cannon. It however ignores cover. It is also much shorter range than the baneblade cannon.

For sponsons, it has heavy flamers instead of heavy bolters.

Its a shame they didnt give the hellhammer the humongous flame template.

That would have made it worth the points.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

The chaos conversion has the mega flame template.

The Hellhammer has:

- 7" S10 Ap1 ignores cover main gun (as opposed to 9" S9 Ap2)

- twin linked heavy flamers instead of twin linked heavy bolters

- a lasgun on the back of the (smaller) turret, mentioned only for completeness

The sponsons should've been either Inferno Cannons or TL-Multi-Meltas.

That wouldn't work. The sponsons are supposed to be inferior to make up for the better main gun. ignore cover on a weapon like that is nasty. Its prettyy much a straight up 2+ kill. Replacing the lascannon qwith multimeltas would have been fairer.

I would have been happy to see Inferno cannon sponsons and in return drop the lascannon and heavy bolters.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Multiple Inferno cannons would make for a very cool VDR conversion.

It's supposed to be the City Fight Baneblade.

Anyone know how they justify fluff-wise S10 AP1 ignores cover? Some kind of melta-lava gun?

HBMC,
if you model the hellhammer with TL Multimelta's in the sponsons, I don't think anyone will stop you from using such a cool (and rediculously powerful) tank!!!

Just don't build 3! (or more for that matter!)

Indeed. The main cannon should have been able to use the apocalypse super flamer template as a super inferno cannon, and the rest of the sponsons become twin linked inferno cannons (reroll failed wounds).

It'll look like a "firefighting ship in the harbor" spewing so much promethium. It also might have to sit on top of a gas station to keep its armaments going for the entire battle, but I really would have preffered this to heavy flamer sponsons.

Ohhh! heavy flamer sponsons on a super heavy tank! Soooo scary!
It's like mounting 20 lasguns on a titan.... dumb.

I am definatly going to have to VDR this inferno cannon version. The "Official" apocalypse Hellhammer alternative is too dumb to exist, IMNSHO.

Well I've ordered two Baneblades so that I could have one normal and one Hellhammer (and so I'd have a full 4-tank Super Heavy Tank Company to go with my other Baneblade and my Stormblade). I'm either just going to use them as Inferno Cannons or use some multi-melta parts (plastic Devastators come to mind) to make the Hellhammer interesting.

And I am dissapointed that it's a 7" blast rather than the cool flamer template. If ever a tank screamed 'give me a super inferno cannon', it'd be the Hellhammer.
