I saw this and it just epitimises the lengths that GW will go to. They're bound to release it in different colors and make them limited edition, wait for the caption......Gotta collect em all!! http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99229999071&orignav=300810 I can even see the new ruling in armeggedon. 'Any player with more tags than his opponent gets +1 to all rolls for each tag more than his opponent has' UTTER JUNK!

Actually, that could be quite useful.

Everyone loves to hate...
I think it's a decent add on. Sure, for the price of a bit of paint I could just paint a symbol on my case or something, but having a neat little tag is nice, too. I'm sure we've all been to a tournament/convention where +50% of the cases looked the same. Will I buy one now? Probably not, my cases are marked anyway. But if I was buying a new case, I'd consider.

Although the idea of GW selling little tags for their cases for $5 a pop makes me feel a little sick, I cannot deny that in a world of so many identical cases, the tag would actually be quite useful.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias |

The utility is somewhat limited by the fact that the tag is attached by string. It would be much more useful if it were attached to your army case by huge metal chains. Or honking great staples. Or nails, lots of nails. That would be cool.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

This is no different than the novelty luggage tags that other stores are selling. Sleesh. It's not like they are holding a gun to your head telling you to buy it. It's only like $5 too. I've see some novelty luggage tags go for like $10. I guess you don't go to many Theme Parks, eh? You should see how much some of the Disney ones cost. I think it is a really good idea for people that are looking for that kind of item if they haven't marked their case already.

spray painting army emblem on the side or your "tag" is much easier. While that may be true for some cases, not all cases are made of plastic. Spray painting nylon doesn't work very well... lol. Besides, this has a tag to put your contact info on it if it gets lost. If you are traveling and have to check your case in at an airport, I see that as being extremely valuable. Capt K

Meh. Yes, you can get cheaper at the Dollar Store, but it's a novelty, and people pay for novelties.

I want one for my luggage! Then again, I'm a GW whore...
Seriously though, some people will hate GW no matter what they do (like *gasp* releasing novelty bag tags... the horror...).

This isn't a sign of despiration it is just a business move to make more profit. It only cost them a few pennies to manufacture these and they can sell them for a large profit margin. They are attached with a string because they want you to lose them so you have to buy another one. This is no different then when I worked for a camera supply store and we sold replacement lens caps. They only cost us 25 cents each to buy from the supplier and we sold them for $8 each.
I think the doom and gloom people just won't be happy until GW does go under or they are just out to rip us off with every business decision. This is a hobby if you don't like it go find some other hobby.

In the past, I have done my fair share of criticizing Games Workshop for their foolishness, overpriced models, sub-par rules, unbalanced codices, etc.... But let me say that I don't see what the big deal about this is. I never thought I'd post this, but if you don't like it, don't buy it.
