Having just purchased my first shiny box of Imperial Guard Cadian Shocktroops, I feel the urge to differentiate them from the thousands of other plastic figurines out there. To this end I want to use Green Stuff to give my troopers 'face cloths' circa 3rd Edition Tallarn Desert Raiders. ( Look in 3rd Ed WH40k  Rulebook pg. 210. )

Can anybody help me out on how to create the ripples and folds in the cloth?

Some advice on painting post conversion would also be appreciated.

Cheers,

System.

You'll need a lot of greenstuff, but I'm stating the obvious. Flatten it out to something less than a millimeter; pretty much to your desire. Start by wrapping the green stuff around the head to cover it all. Then take a knife to it to make the lines or folds more obvious.

Also, you could try to cover the back part of the head with the greenstuff. Essentially doing this would give you most of the model covered. After that, start by all very small bits to give the folds that you want.

Finally, just try anything that comes to mind, you'll find something that you like.

Face shields are easier than cloths. For shields I've seen good results with using a hole punch on a straw.
Just flatten the straw and put it in the hole punch. Be sure to save the punched part and apply that to your face shield.
I don't know what size the hole punch was though so you may need to do some experimenting.
