Hey ^_^ Yeah I knew about BFGames in Killeen, I've been there a few times, mainly to browse. I was really wondering if there was anyone around Dakka that frequents any of the shops that way, since well...The only shops around central texas are in killeen x.x... How big a group plays out there? I've never been for the '40k night'.

When do you play? Any decent sized Austin 40K group? I've been around Thor's Hammer but they never seemed to have 40kers about.

Was up north this weekend visiting a friend who was in Fort Worth and decided to check out one of the Hobbytown USA's up that way. I went to the one on Hulen. Was a rather nice big store, with lots of great hobby stuff. Unfortunately just didn't seem like a whole lot of 40k was ever going down in that store. No terrain, no tables set up for it, hardly any stock. I did end up snagging some terrain materials from their nice model train section though >.>...
After leaving there I noticed a comic shop on the way to Hobbytown that I was going to try and find on my way back to the highway. After getting lost for a bit and turned around a few times, I finally saw the sign for 'Comics' again and headed into the shopping plaza and came across Y2 Komics (Trail Lake Dr). Went in and was a bit overwhelmed by the clutter. Just TONS of stands and racks for books and comics. I finally found my way around though it all and noticed a back section past the pay counter with a bunch of folks playing card games of one form or another and what looked like a few role players in a corner. Tucked away in the very back I did notice a bunch of terrain stored which was promising. What wasn't was the, yet again, nearly bare stock of Wargaming products on the rather large wall dedicated to miniatures.
Disappointed in my findings, I left and headed back to the highway and made my way to visit my friend. I was really hoping to see some gaming happening. But I guess just poking my head in for a few minutes really isn't going to give me the chance to see what kind of community is out that way.
More exploration will happen though.

Yeah, its to bad all of the Hobby Towns can't be alike. We've got 6 tables permanently set up as well as the complete collection of Fantasy, 40k, and FoW. If you went this weekend 40k would have been lax as we're in the middle of a Fantasy league.

I think I would have been happy to see ANY games being played for ANY wargame system ^_^. I'll probably try and make it out to some of the other stores up that way once I've got more of an army together.

Yeah, there is actually a pretty large and active Austin group. Thors Hammer went out of business, but thats primarily due to the fact that all the gamers moved to Battleforge Games. If you want to know whats going on with gaming in Austin, then check out belloflostsouls.blogspot.com/ You should definately come by sometime, Thursday and Friday nights things are usually pretty active.

I'd just like to say:
When is Battlefield Games in Killeen EVER open??
I've been there MULTIPLE times trying to just go see what's going down while I was in town and the place is NEVER open.
Example: Today, went into Killeen to pick up some stuff from the station, then thought I'd hop over to the store and see if anything was happening because the store hours on the door are Noon to Midnight on weekends. Only to have my hopes dashed as I drove up!
I'm seriously thinking it's time to start trekking to Austin on my days off.
