I'm playing in an Apocalypse battle this weekend using my marines.  I have a battle company, well at least the Crimson Fists version anyway.  It will be marines versus Tau @ about 10,000 points per side.  I read the batrep in the WD and the ultras used the flank march.  How exactly does that work?  There were lots of ultras on the table, so I am assuming that the battle company was held in reserve to use the flank march, but how did the entire company come on together?  I don't have the book, but the way it was explained to me is that half your reserves come on turn 2, and the other half comes on turn 3.  That battle company looked like more than half of the imperial units that came on.  So which asset is appropriate?  Thanks.

In my happy place, I'm in my happy place...

Look on the GW website under Apocalypse and they have put all the stratagems in a handy dandy PDf with the full rules explanation.

Its like deep strike.  Roll a dice per turn.  On a 1-2 nothing happens.  On a 3-4 half of them come in.  On a 5-6 they all come in.  I love it, its my favorite stratigium.  Ill take it in most games i think....

I haven't played apocalypse yet but I believe that they were all able to come in together because they were all part of the same formation.

No Hotsoup, incorrect.

When you have the 'Full Battle Company' strategic asset(ie 100 Marines blah blah, the rule states...)

"Up to half of your reserves can be deployed on the first turn, the rest on the second'.

No rolling. Deploy NONE on the first if you like, then bring ALL of them out on turn two.

'Careful Planning'- is the SA I think.

Check p101 of the Apocalypse rulebook, the little note under "Deploying Battle Formations."

In short, all units in a formation are treated as a single unit when deploying and when they come in from reserves.

The point of the whole asset is that it works waaay outside the normal parameters of 'Reserves' and the rolling required.

So you get up to half of your reserves on turn 1, and the rest on turn 2. No rolling. Up to half 1st turn. Which is according to MY RAI, you can deploy none on the first turn, if you wish, and the ENTIRE Company on turn two.

Get the book.

It's really difficult to play a game/plan a strategy when you don't own the rules.

It's been five months, if he doesn't have it by now, he probably won't be getting it.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack
