Dunno if this is already known or not...

I sent an email to GW asking if I could order  sponson sprues for the Baneblade so I could build mine with 2 per side.. apparently, you can't order sprues at all.. so I guess if you want 2 sponsons you gotta buy 2 tanks or just scratch build your own

"Hello,
The Baneblade sprues are not available.  There are no plans to make them
available separately."

???

That's really odd. I expected that they might not be available right away, because they are going crazy trying to make enough of the kit to meet demand, but assumed that they would make sprues available at some time, just so that you could do the conversions that are upgrades, let alone making Orc/Chaos/whatever variants.

Tim-I might be making an Orky conversion soon, I might not need the sponsons since the Skullhammer has such a different weapons package.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Time for magnets!

Give them a few months. Once Apocalypse sales finish their splash you'll see sprues become available.

And this has been normal with most kits. Takes quite awhile before they start parting them out. Also, they are redoing that whole section, so who knows what will come. No surprise they aren't doing it now though.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Hey Mike, sure if you're not using your sponsons I'll be glad to take em off your hands I just picked mine up, about to crack it open and get my geek on

I got some magnets so I plan to do the sponson areas with them and hopefully the barrel too so I can switch to a hellhammer and back. I'll be doing the sponsons last anyway to see if I can figure out a cool way to make 2 or even 3 sponsons (with other bitz and just for looks) look like 1 big piece

oh and yeah I didn't expect them to be available right away, was just not expecting em to say there's no plans to sell em at all

the response is a typical one from gw when a new product is released
the reply you recieved is a stock reply so they do not get inundated by requests for the item

give it 3 months or so or when they get set to release the next catalogue and you will be able to buy baneblade sprues

just like all the other tanks

I'm getting two, as I need two sets of sponsons and two main turrets to build my Stormhammer conversion.

I'll use the spare hull to do something like the malcador or gorgon.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

From someone who has seen and built the kit.

1. The sponsons and armour plates are not on their own sprue, the kit was not organised that way. There isnt a sprue to convert a Baneblade into a Hellhammer that you can order seperately, or a sprue for the sponsons that you can duplicate. There are several sprues and they contain various bits that make up the siongle kit.
I noticed this ommission and questioned it, the tank is nice but the kit could have been far better organised.

2. WARNING READ THIS. If you do intend to swap with someone make sure you dont just buy their sponsons, make sure that in the deal you trade a set of armour plates in return. There are six side sections that need filling. You get four 'sets' of armour plates and two sponson 'sets'.

3, It would be nice to magentise the sponsons but again you are left with no armour plates to swap them with.

Bitz traders are going to make a killing out of this kit, expect sponsons and armour plates to be VERY expensive, after all the bitz traders will need to order in a whole Baneblade for every customer they satisfy with extra sponsons.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Yeah I started building mine last night. Don't know why they arranged the sprues like that, I guess just for space. I think it would have been better if they had, say, the treads all on one, sponsons separate, turret separate.. unless they don't care because there really is no plans to sell sprues. I've seen some folks do the double-wide tread thing for russes, would have been cool if they could easily order the baneblade treads to use them instead.. that sort of thing.

I'm going to build the sponson areas last. I got some mini magnets too. I'm torn, if I can get extra complete sponsons either the hellblade/baneblade conversion idea would be good, if not I'm also thinking of building the multi-sponson idea into one big piece, so it looks like 1 big sponson with 2 sets of guns in each, taking up that whole area.. using some plasiticard and other stuff. I think it might look kinda cool if I can pull it off.

A little off topic, but not really as it does involve getting sponsons/sprues, but does someone have a link to pictures of the Baneblade variants?

Back in my Space Marine/Titan Legion days, I really loved the "all bolter" variant.

Was that the Stormhammer?

And, how easy/hard would it be to convert one now?

Thanks!

I've been quite annoyed for some time that there's no LR "exhaust" sprue for sale separately. At least not listed on the web store.

Even the Baneblade used to mount bolters. The sponsons each had three.

The Stormhammer had 4 sponsons, each with three bolters, four small turrets, each with heavy bolters, and two turrets each with two battle cannons. Epic Armageddon changed it to demolishers in the main turrets, lascannons in the small turrets, and heavy bolters in the sponsons.

Truly a land battleship!

I've started work on a conversion, but it will take a couple of months. I need a second Baneblade kit, which I can't afford til the start of December.

Keeping it old skool, so bolters, heavy bolters and battle cannons for me.
