Well, think about it..do you ever see anyone using GW terrain for other games?

You see the fallacy in your statement don't you Dave? It would require GW to understand that there is another game out there. We are GW, and we always have our blinders on .

I'm going to try, I'll let you know how it works out.

Wow, I can and have seen other terrain used for GW fights and the companies making MDF stuff have some cool items for use in any game.

@ldd, I've seen that ks, it looks really good, but price is still a little high for me. Also not sure how strong those pins are that hold them together, or how tight the hold. I do like the fact that there's a stretch goal to cover up the skulls

Yes, those dam skulls get everywhere although I think the idea is quite good and once they hit mass production we will get to see more feedback and see if it is worth the investment.

I liked the idea of shipping containers being used as dwellings, has a real Apoc feel to it but wish they would steer more away from the whole gothic 40k vibe and do a more individual theme.

Warmill already had beaten them to mass made shipping containers, and modular all purpose pods. I also like the buildings offered by that company making the buggy and "troop landers"

@Bama- Welcome back, I hope your sould was sucked out by Borderlands 2, and not something more devious

@LDD those are pretty cool, but like Theo said, a bit too expensive. So far the Spartan Scenics have the most competitive prices in the US for MDF stuff.

Buy old case and get a gun and a pick. Weather it the realistic way before painting.

Nice tower

Now back to the terrain conversation I am still not sold on the whole MDF terrain it just kind of looks a bit blocky, I think plastic still has the upper hand IMHO but thats just me.

Although Warmill does have some rather cool looking pieces with a little work could look less blocky.

I hear ya LDD, I like some of the MDF pieces around but weight and how to paint them are my concerns! how much primer soaks in or does it? how long to assemble? ease if use etc. that's why I stick with my plastics.

Yes, I know what you mean it is not a material I have a lot of experience with, plus i never got as far as the painting issues either that opens another bunch of issues

Although it obviously works as they sell quite a lot of terrain in this format, but it just does not really work for me.

The Ork looks a little flat to me to be honest, but the human stuff has me at least interested maybe I should try a couple of pieces to see

The Australian stuff is better represented with extra resin/plastic bits added
http://www.miniaturescenery.com/CategoryPage.asp?CODE=CAT_SCI
Think in shapes and layers
Also, a proper paint job shows best on MDF terrain

Also I've found inspiration, as well as an idea to heavily blackline and shade terrain in paint..
This is essentially how we WANT to paint terrain, sans the outside edges in black.

^^very doable by spamming laser-cut MDF^^
I intend to amass a bunch of these parts from different manufacturers for kitbashes..someday

O.k Dave, teach me mate? if you can instruct me in how to prime and paint MDF terrain from start to finish and manage to convert me I will be so very grateful, I've wanted to buy some but I really am lost as to what to use and how it effects a wooden building as a base? if you do this for me I'll even send you a Christmas card covered in rivets!

You need to turn off the part of your brain that cares what it is made of first of all. Paint covers all. remember that
