Crane is on the back and has a limited range of movement - so where is the loading port?

My guess would be that the tank drops it's rear hatch and has an extending rail or loading claw. The shell cart rolls up the ramp, Vindicator winches up a shell, cart rolls down, loading rail extends, winch lowers shell, shell is drawn into Vindicator and loaded into stowage or main gun.

I can certainly think of a more efficient way with a better winch system, but oh well.

I've been working on a Tau army recently. My gripe is about Devilfish troop carriers. What genius puts left and right access points directly in front of enormous thruster intakes? I understand you can rotate the engines up, but still...

Don't Land Raiders have Marines disembarking right in front of the damn lascannons/hurricane bolters? Thruster intakes nothing!

Twin linked lascannons also miss sometimes even with BS4.

I love how the land raider's impenetrable hull opens up at the front into a gaping hole that goes directly to the engines. Genius. it's engineering like that that keeps the imperium of man from ever really winning a war.

Yes, but there should be terminators between the two.

My guess would be that the back opens and outside the small crew compartment, the internal mechanism would be much like the boltgun (aka magnetic) with few moving parts involved to enusure efficiency.
magasines would simply be slotted in by servitors back in the hangar.

I can imagine a railgun shot being deflected by a Termie at the last moment. Makes me laugh too 'cause after that he'd probably be spinning in the air or dirt.

If you hit the open hatch, chances are the Rail Slug would be deflected by several Termis and STILL hit the engines in the back. :p

Vidicators load via the rear hatch. If you're feeling froggy, find a copy of Imperial Armor vol. 2. They have a cut-away showing where everything is placed.

I have this image of Tau disembarking and being sucked into the engines. Maybe when Tau disembard,Make a difficult terrain test. If it fails the squad loses a model and the Devilfish is imobilised
