There's no such thing as a Death Guard army any more. There's a CSM army with an abundance of Plague Marine squads, but Death Guard - as a list - have gone the way of the Squats.
You will need the Codex to play CSM's though, so I still say get it.

Most of the specialized rules and detailed intracacies that made Chaos 40K what it was is no longer present.
Chaos is no longer a "Characterhammer" army. It is far more an army where you need balance, now.
There are still some God specific spells, weapons & abilities. You DO need to codex to play it.
IMO, this codex is better because it has eliminated many of the problems with creating good forces that used to exist (Nurgle can have any Chaos unit in the game, now, for example)
It's worth it.

As MagickalMemories has pointed out, you have no choice if you expect to play pick-up games or in tourneys. This codex is the only official way to field a Chaos army now. Don't worry (too much), though, because you can still field an all-Nurgle force if you like, as any generic CSM unit can take a Mark, and Plague Marines are available as a Troops choice.
And, uh, you're still posting all these threads in inappropriate sections. Maybe you should spend some time getting acquainted with the forum structure before posting further threads. Just some friendly advice.

This should be in army lists as TC pointed out, but there are still nurgle only psychic powers and the Death Guard themselves are great. Typhus is a true powerhouse and as has been pointed out the whole army can be nurgle themed.
