Found this pic on The Miniatures Page (posted by Matakishi) and gives an idea of the scale of the Moonscape craters:

Note that is a 28mm model shown with the crater.

That's the largest of the 6 craters you get in the pack.

We picked up a few of them at GW a couple of weeks back. They're very, very light - quite thin plastic - but work wonderfully well as craters in game. Their slopes are not very steep, meaning that models will balance well, and the actual craters themselves are quite flat.

Great way to add spice to any 40K battlefield.

That said, I'm very bias when it comes to GW terrain. Can't get enough of the stuff...

god bless you GW for making good terrain... if anything I can count on -that- much being excellent.

how durable are they. the local store manager recently said, that GW sold something like this in second edition and that they would break pretty fast.

Looks good, and very practical (questions of durability aside). How much are these going for again?

$17US/$25 Canadian I believe. Very reasonable for what you get.

Not to detract from the quality or utility... but can't GW Canada throw us a bone here? Is there a reason why the same craters shipped to Canada from the US warehouse cost 50% more? Does it cost 50% of the price in shipping and duty?

Ugh.

Canadians (and Australians) have shown a willingness to pay between 50% and 100% more than their US or UK counterparts. Maybe it's something in the water.

Talk to the owner of your local FLGS and urge him to tell his GW rep that the difference is hurting sales. When you can get half off or more by ordering through Warstore its really hard for FLGSs in Canada to survive. If there's enough outcry, GW Canada might wake up.

Actually, it's that before the US dollar started *really* tanking a year and a half ago, that's how much the exchange rates for those currencies were worth. AUS and CAD were always about the same. These days though the U.S. dollar is so poor that it's a real ripoff considering the Canadian dollar is at par.

Huh? Why is it "moonscape craters"? Why not use those for Apoc. for when any terrain is destroyed and replace it with that?

You also use them whenever a superheavy is destroyed by the big boom result.
