Anyone planning to pick up the Ragnarok Boxed set when it is released?

I have a few Confrontation minis, because they are so very nice, but I have never played any games. Other than Hybrid, which I disliked a lot, and have since been told is rather a poor effort on their part, and I shouldn't judge Confrontation by Hybrid.

They're calling the new version Ragnarok too? I thought you were talking about the old Ragnarok box, which is just rules for large scale Confrontation and army construction(or rather, lack thereof). Plenty of pretty pictures and fluff.

I guess I'll be picking it up, I picked up the last one.

Well, I guess the actual title is Confrontation: The Age of Ragnarok.

I went to the Rackham website and looked over the rules. They seem to be simple yet elegant, like the AT-43 rules. I find the notion of 'exploding sixes' interesting. The Clan War rules used 'exploding tens', and I loved those rules.

Imagine in Warhammer fantasy, if when rolling to hit, every '6' generated an additional to-hit roll.

"Three attacks, hitting on 3's... three hits, with two 6's! Rolling two more... two more sixes! Rolling two more... a 3 and a 5. For a grand total of seven hits, even though I only have three attacks on my profile. Exploding sixes, woo hoo!"

Also imagine games being over way, way too quickly...

It looks to be a "bucket full o'dice" type of game too.

I know I'll give it a try, but I just can't see the new system being much, if any, fun...

The new game seems to be a much simpler version aimed at beginning wargamers. I'd rather stick to the older versions myself now that I've gotten or getting copies. The PPP for Confrontation for my armies (Dirz) pretty much suck. So I'd rather stick to metal and skirmishes of C3. Just can't find any local players.

I got one person to get into AT43, which I like as the PPP is decent enough and it is fairly quick and doesn't need huge anounts of troops for a 1500 pt game and pretty cheap to acquire as there are a lot of deals as Rackham has cut the prices of older stuff in half, even though they are same models/basic troops and striders. So far games are less than an hour (nice for me) and boxes often come with things like minimal terrain (walls, containers, objectives) which is also nice. Still the problem with local player base size and meeting face-to-face, due to schedule issues for most.
