I was looking at some of the Hordes and Warmachine minis last night on the War Store, and they are pretty sexy. Sexy enough that I kept coming up with excuses to buy them and put them into some army as whatever. The problem that stopped me from picking up like 30 was the scale. I have bought some Dark Age minis because they were the sex, and a few were rather huge compared to GW, but some more than others. Not a huge problem for the ones I really wanted to use (esp. considering my GW Inquisitor chick is a head taller than marines...), but I don't really want to drop cash on mere painting projects, as opposed to pretty additions to my armies.
So what's the deal? Do PP minis tower over normal GW humans, or even marines for that matter? Or are they fairly similar in size?

Aren't PP minis 30mm, as opposed to the Heroic 28mm we know and love? I have almost no PP stuff, but it's definitely a bit larger than the standard GeeDub fair. My brother got Sorcha (the Khador chick) to lead his Steel Legion, and she looks good as a character amongst them, despite the midgety SL metals. But note he was using the original Sorch, not the newer EPIC ones that are made larger by big bases and dramatic posing. So that's all I got for you. Thinking about sticking some PP in the Witch Hunters? My ogre army is actually led my a Khador Doomreaver, but he's meant to be a beefy human amongst ogres, not a man amongst men so scale is nil there. - Salvage

The PP models are substancially larger than GW figures. I compared the Sea Dog figs http://www.privateerpress.com/WARMACHINE/gallery/default.php?level=picture&id=356 with a Mordian IG LT. The Sea Dogs were about half a head taller & much thicker. The difference will be noticable if your sensitve to these sorts of things.

Damnit, I was afraid of that.
Why can't GW make really cool, characterful models like that for the Inquisition! Why, WHY WHY!!!!!
Oh right, no one plays them. Never mind.

Yes the humans may be a little bigger but I have seen a lot of Khador warjacks used as Dreads. They looks very nice and nobody says anything buts compliments on the visual.
I was thinking of adding some everblight to my nidsand see how it looks, plus it would be an excuse to buy an everblight army.

I don't think the difference is that noticeable. I use a reaper figs as my Piper of Ord, and use Kislevites for some of my Khador infantry. I think it becomes more of an issue if you're trying to mix, say, Perry Cadians in with Trenchers, but if you keep them in the same unit, it shouldn't be too big a difference. What's more a difference is the style: both GW figs and PP figs are highly stylized, in different ways, so you might run into more 'continuity' troubles that way.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil |

I mainly wanted to bring in some of the more religious bent PP models to serve my ecclesiarcial forces. Start some fancy Inquisitorial retinues etc. as well as some different looking Cannoness' and Sister Superiors.
Basically it comes down to me wanting something to replace the metal minis since I am horrible at converting them compared to plastic.

I ordered some "choir of Menoth" minis for my inquisitorial squad:
http://www.privateerpress.com/WARMACHINE/gallery/default.php?level=picture&id=197
But they are about 5-10% smaller than GW minis (they have half a head less than my female inquisitors).
Oh well, such nice minis, the'll end up as statues in terrain!

I have some and the PP models are easily a Heroic 30mm, and pushing a Heroic 32mm in some cases. They are clearly larger than GW typical models, even considering the 40k3 / WFB6 scale creep.

I hear many cases if the Harbinger of Menoth being converted to Sisters Living Saint.
I have a Harbinger , thanks to Ozymandius, and am ver impressed with the miniature, but I will keep her as she is.
