Okay so I am making mad money now, so I want to make a nam style drop guard with loads of valkaries, vultures, and some lightnings for flavour. Now Im going to use the plastic guard, but I want to replace the lasgun with something that looks like a m-16, or at least a modernish gun. Does anyone have any idea where I can get something like that? I live in Canada, but im willing to ship it in.

Thanks for the help.

I would sugest looking at this:

Some pretty nifty stuff, including the "pulse rifle" mini.

Do you think guardsmen are more or less effective when armed with hockey sticks?

I'm glad people still remember this project. I have to get get back to it one of these days, before GW invalidates the IG codex.

I've been using 1/35 scale model weapons since at 2000 when I got back into GW. 1/35 is strictly speaking too large for 28mm but GW guns are so oversized the 1/35 stuff blends right in, heck it even looks puny next to a las gun.

Anyway what I used was Dragon Quartermaster Series weapons, boxes filled with M16, H&K or AK47 varients. You can get them from online or B&M model shops. There are also WWII sets out there from Tashima, Italiari and Dragon.

I used Catachans since Cadians have their left hand molded to the darn gun! But I hear with careful cutting or buying bits from the war store you can get enough left hands to do something like this with them.

I have Dragon's M16s if you want a picture of them.

The Assault Group also make 28mm 'chunky style' modern guns.

If money isn't an issue, and you're looking for drop troop IG with a more modern look, Forgeworld does a nice set of Elysian Drop Troops...

When I wanted to make a more modern-looking lasgun, I just shortened the regular down a bit, and added the grip + sight from a boltgun.

I guess another alternative might be to get the elysian weapon packs.. but you get a truly sad amount of lasguns per pack
