Sleitsmithr would be your best bet for the exit track- he works around that area and knows the people there.

I'll try to get you an approach vector sometime tomorrow. We'll probably want to put in an entire separate station for your ...on-ramp? What's that sort of thing called on rails?

Anvil, Ralphy, when would be the best time to chat about this online? I can come online pretty much any time today (Sunday) to show people round, but then have a bit less time over the next few days -- probably Wednesday evening (UK time) will be my next chance to get half an hour of MC in.

I'm free all the time, let me know when it's good for you. I'll be on most of the day today working the track towards the mushroom biome

let's try to get together weds, I have the track right outside your place. I just cleared the swamp and need to know how you want the track brought in, or out depending on your point of view

let me know some time frames that are good for you and I'll do my best to be online for it.

So, with the End now tamed (slightly) does anyone have any knowledge where I might find a Dragons Head? IE, a portion that remains unexplored.

You can in theory build a airship with Redstone and fly thousands of blocks AFK.
That's if it works. And if they still work In 1.1.2

As mentioned, the north and south are largely unexplored. Rocket-powered elytra have aided in the exploration of the east and west.

Yeah, north, even in a straight line would be good.

Speaking of the End, if someone is going to fight the Ender Dragon, how about fixing the damage it does to existing structures, like the bridges? The East bridge and rail line has a big chunk smashed out of it.

It looked fine from the main island, and I'm not allowed on the east bridge. If you build that close to the dragons flight path, it being blown up from time to time is just the price you pay.

oddly though, all the portals that spawn after the dragon dies got removed somehow, except the two up the purple stairs, and they don't work. We had to kill the dragon a second time just to get a new portal to spawn.

Ah, so - by that logic, I shouldn't have fixed the section of the biome track that got creepered when I was riding on it. I mean, building it close enough to the ground where creepers spawn at night - them destroying it is the price you pay, right?

Sure, and by the other logic, I should build a nice diamond, gold and emerald house on top of the return portal. Have fun replacing it every time the dragon is summoned.

Random creepers are random and easy enough to defeat so they don't explode.

The dragon will destroy everything in it's path, and expecting others to shell out resources to repair it is ridiculous. And expecting this actually hinders others people's game play when it is necessary to defeat the dragon and it's the only place to fight the dragon. It's like building a wooden house on a lava lake then expecting visitors to go inspect it when they go by it, and repair it, when it's obvious from the location it's going to be destroyed.

See the difference?

where did you get creepered at? by the time I'm done with the track it will be mob & creeper proof, you can't do that with the dragon.

well if I miss you this weekend, if you could just make a path up to the surface just post the coords and I can tie into it. I connected the track between you and anvil, can I interest you two in powered rails? they're really nice and glowy

Maybe not rails or fancy but can be bodged with timber and end stone, pretty cheap resource wise.

Not have to fancy repair, just ernough to walk over.

Well, a return trip confirmed that the Elytra are gone along with the rest of the loot. However the Dragons Head was still there, and after killing the Shulker I know have a Dragons Head.. A new portal was discovered and when the map updates a good chunk of the South End should have been discovered.

Ulm itself has seen some work, especially on the central keep which can now be held against almost anything.

Ralphy, I think the best bet for the railway by Sacred Mountain would be to take the track straight through the mountain itself, in a vast tunnel that I would like to help build, and then have a station by the village behind it. Would that work for you? The Mountain itself is a sensitive archaeological site, so while we're fine to bore through it, we should probably not disturb the remains from the pre-human Netherfolk who built the temples atop it.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Alternatively, it might be easier to make a station in front of Sacred Mountain -- on the rail side of the portal there is a pretty nice spot, a kind of steep stone valley.

I think the latter option works best. Are you on this evening? I will hop on and see about helping, and making a station.

We should get a link to the big underground line between mine and Anvil's place here too though, of course... I guess it should be possible to tunnel between the planned new station, and that, if that works?

Yep, I can be on this evening

and I already linked you two a mined up 2 chests full of obsidian and laid the just plain, non powered tracks for you. For the love of the FSM light the place up and use some powered rails anyone taking this leg of the trip is risking life & limb and their blood pressure dealing with furnace carts

the idea is, you leave from spawn, enter at anvils and leave at your place heading west through the swamp to the jungle, returning to spawn.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
maybe you and anvil could put up some signs offering some pointers on how to use the furnace carts at his end? I'll have some and the coal at the train station for people to use. and if we can figure out how much coal is needed for the trip that would be nice to know as well.

How about a Nether rail system?
So your line ends in a Nether portal on one side of the mountain, travels through the Nether X blocks until it hits another Nether portal on the other side and re-enters the Overworld?
