Without stealing any of Agandhjin's thunder, thinking of Russes gave me the idea of making another variant. Let me know what you think.
Leman Russ Immolator - 135pts
BS 3
AV F - 14, S - 12, R - 10
Weapons:
Turret-Mounted Twin Linked Multi-Melta. May be replaced with a Turret-Mounted Inferno Cannon at +10pts
Must take one of the following hull-mounted weapons: Multi-Melta at +10pts, Heavy Bolter at +5pts, Heavy Flamer at +5pts
May take one of the following sets of sponson weapons: Multi-Meltas at +20pts, Heavy Bolters at +10pts, Heavy Flamers at +10pts
Options:
May take, in place of a pintle mounted stubber or storm bolter, a pintle-mounted Multi-Melta at +10pts, or a pintle-mounted Heavy Flamer at +5pts. May also take a coaxial Meltagun at +10pts. Otherwise, as per a normal Leman Russ in Codex: Imperial Guard.
I like fire, in case you didn't notice.

Oh, and rolling a 6 on the Glancing Table, or a 4, 5, or 6 on the Penetrating Table counts as a 6 on the Penetrating Table.
In other words, if it is destroyed, it immediately explodes in a huge ball of promethium.
Just for fun.

If it's got Multi-Meltas why would it explode like that?

Sorry, H. I meant to say that if it takes an Inferno Cannon and at least one Heavy Flamer, be it the Hull-Mounted one or the Sponsons (the pintle mount doesn't count).
Don't Multi-Meltas shoot concentrated jets of promethium anyway? The incendiary fuel would burn either way, wouldn't it?

Melta weapons are effectivley microwave guns. They super-heat air and then project that as a jet towards the target, melting it on the spot.

I thought it was back in 2nd when they were mig microwaves, I though in 4th it says that they fire superheated fuel of some sort? Can't rememebr exactly, will try to check later.
Like the idea but would have thought 10pts is too cheap for twin linked inferno cannon? don't you pay that for heavy flamers?

@HBMC
Thanks for the info. I like knowing the fluff - keeping facts straight is part of that.
@covenant84
I never said the Inferno Cannon was twin linked. The Turret Mounted Multi-Meltas are, though.
Melta weapons aside - do you all like this tank?

sorry, misread it.
Yep I like it. can imagine it dashing across the battlefield to take on a titan with lots of melta fire, dodging blasts, bullets, running down the enemy with a tank shock and melting the leg of a titan....to have the titan fall on it and squash it. Never mind, hundreds more where that came from and it'll get a medal. It's what life in the guard is all about!

Ultimate anti-tank tank. Great in CityFight.

Steal my thunder? Bah, thunder and lightning are for wuzzes. But don't go near my plasma!
I like the idea, melta weapons have always held a certain appeal to me. Like HBMC says, it would rock in cityfight.
Range will be a problem though. If I remember correctly, it would only be able to fire off one weapon (+ coaxial)
on the move if it chose to go all meltas. Other than that, great fun

Should the pintle multimelta be a little more expensive? I don't see any reason to ever take a stubber or storm bolter there if I can have a multi-melta, other than shooting on the move.
Still, great fun! I need 3 for my Sisters

The name should be changed to avoid SoB confusionm Other than that, I like it. I was just thinking how awesome a Multi on a Chimera turret would be not 10 minutes before I saw this. Spooky.

If it were an actual option, I would field one of the following configurations:
Multi-Melta Version:
Turret TL Multi-Melta w/ Coax Meltagun, Pintle Multi-Melta, Hull Multi-Melta, Multi-Melta Sponsons.
185 points, packs 5 Multi-Melta and 1 Meltagun shot when stationary.
If I wanted to move it around a lot, I'd just switch the Hull and Sponson MMs with Heavy Bolters. Saves 15 points, and gives it a little antipersonnel punch
Pyromania Version:
Turret Inferno Cannon w/ Pintle Heavy Flamer, Hull HB, Sponson HBs.
165 points, packs 9 HB shots and an Inferno Cannon template per turn, regardless of mobility. It's like a Hellhound on steroids.

Ouch the pyromania version is dangerous.
AV14 and that much anti-infantry power. I'd like to try that out against something like... Tau.

Sounds like one hell of a tank, and if i knew that when it died it would go kaboom and be lost amongst a massive wave of flames, then i'd park it amongst their troops and wreak as much havoc before exploding
suicidal? Meh, thats how I roll

I have been thinking of something similiar, but with a couple extra heavy bolters and only the Inferno. Pretty much just a Russ geared out completely to be anti-infantry. Two sponson HB, one hull HB, one turret Inferno with dual secondary turrets/cupola HBs, sort of like the turret you saw on the M60 tank of the UK's modern MBT, but one for the assistant gunner/loader.
5x HB = 15 bolter rounds looking to deliver pain.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular." |

Multi on chimera would be cool. Especially if you had an enginseer onboard and a servitor popped out with a multimelta as well. Now your rockin' two.
