I've been getting a few request for pictures of some of the old Dakka stuff. Here's a little smattering I managed to dig up on the Wayback macine. I can't seem to find a good shot of our "Ork mural" which is a darn shame.

Here are a few old Dakka pics I found:

Thanks for digging those up, I had not seen the inside of the store before and it was certainly nice to see the classic dakka logo in giant size

*sniff* I love it. Oh, the pictures of the old Dakka stores are great, but I was remembering the good old days of Mordhiem displays. *sniff* I miss that game.

I remember the way the old site looks, I love the old links for the News, Home and such. The opening of those doors. Ah, the memories.

Long gone, alas. It was the best I've ever seen, though I've heard that the Rogue's Den was fantastic as well, and even bigger.

Ah the Memories, I miss that place. There was some great times like the space battle over Armageddon. Bad times also happened like lossing a massive terminator squad due to cross fire and some most amusing times like watching 20 ships go up in a chain reach warp drive implosion.

Heh. Wasn't that computer to the left a terminal used solely for the army builder program?

Jeez. I never stepped foot into that place and I recall this info....

I need to get out for a jog...

I had a blast every time I went out to the Dakka shop. That Armageddon mega battle was BRUTAL on my lil ol grey marines...note the lack of models still on the table towards the end of the report x.x...

Good times. Thanks for the great memories Russ ^_^.

Good memory. That was indeed the Army Builder station. It occasionally saw other use (like checking DakkaStats), but that was the main one. The first location had one too.

There were (IIRC) a dozen 8x4 tables up most of the time, including an Inquisitor table, an incredible Mordheim table and (at location 1) another amazing modular Warmaster table. The other tables were mobile and almost all of them had swappable surfaces and modular terrain for use in 40k or Warhammer. If you look in the tables link, just to the left of the head of the guy in the red t-shirt, you can just make out the 2 foot high volcano on the island table.

The 8x4s also had sideboard tables for your armies, etc, though for tournaments they were used as supports for additional tabletops, so we could get 30+ in for tournaments.

The store also had a locked back room where you could rent storage space for your army/s if you didn’t want to carry them to & from the store every week.

It was, to quote Mary Poppins, “practically perfect in every way”.
