Hello everyone, the recent increase in 5th edition rules have gotten me worrying about the new ork army I plan to field. I've been working on this list recently:
The army will contain 150 boyz with shootas, 1 big mek with KFF, a warphead, and 40 stormboyz.

My only problem is that I'm not sure how this army will do once 5th edition comes around. I don't have much experience with 4th edition either so I'd like it if some of you could quickly evaluate how well this army will be prepared for 5th edition, or any changes that I can make for it to be better.

Thanks

I think that list will likely fare as well if not better in 5th as in 4th with the rumours. Only Troops are scoring now, and your shoota mobs will all be able to fire once one of them is in range. That and the kill point system that rewards troops heavy armys, and the "run" rule that allows you to close rapidly with the enemy, mean that ork hordes are going to be happy.
Things that weaken the horde are the fact that templates now hit every model they touch- there are no partials. And things like hammerheads and barbed stranglers will now scatter instead of missing, which is bad news. More than cancelled by the good to my mind though.

I've played a few games with the horde though and I have some advice:
-It's not the most fun in the world to play. You basically run forward firing with everything, and just pick what units you want the stormboys to clobber.
-It can go toe to toe with hardcore lists like nidzilla, but it's hard to win a massive victory due to the number of deaths on the way in.
-The mobs take up so much space that they will be in difficult terrain for at least 50% of the game on most boards.
-Deploying and moving all those boys is tedious and time consuming, and you'll be knackered by the third game in a tournement.

Just some stuff to think about.
