Coming back to my last task from the January Monthly Vows, I finished the scuplting on my ogre-wolf tyrant last night. I'm fielding the typical Tyrant (Tenderizer, Wyrdstone, Gut Maw), and have put them all on the model.
I'd hoped the model would be taller when I bought it, but found that the entire thing was very hunchbacked and smaller than even my normal Bull ogres. As a result, the back has been significantly redone, and the chest has been moved out almost a full inch from where it would have hit the model. The head needed to be remounted to make this work, and the shoulders had to be resculpted to accommodate the arms in the positions I wanted them to be in. The hands had to be repositioned and his weapon needed to be extended to make it seem larger. I ended up being unhappy with the blade at the end of it, and sculpted a mallet/maul out of pink foam to go over the top. It's been sealed with PVA glue, so that's why it went white. Similarly, I sculpted a rock necklace out of foam to go around his neck. I think both elements are going to get painted like wyrdstone, just to give his weapon a more supernatural element. I was unhappy with the overall height of the model at the end, so I took the removed weapon tip and modified it to go over his spine. The gut maw is plasticard with teeth filed from bits of sprue I had lying around.

On to the pictures:

That looks really awesome. And it better after all the work you had to put into it. Now all it needs is some paint. So hurry up!

Are you gonna put them on monster bases? as far as i'm aware confrontation bases are a different size entirely

Ack, thanks for reminding me that I needed to mention that. He's going to go on a GW 40mm base, with a Scene-A-Rama plaster rock coming off the top of it. I'm leaning towards having him angled up (e.g. climbing the rock) in order to better show off the Gut Maw. The one he's on right now is a Rackham base; I'm using it because it was an easy staging area for sculpting him without having to commit to base placement.

Beautiful hammer the lad's got, and nice conversions throughout. Nice to see a gutplate on the dude, and are you really using it as a Gut Maw?? Good call on the rock base, I too vote for angling him up, he could use the elevation a bit.

Kind of a secondary thing, but since you posted your first Werewolf Kingdoms models I've been thinking ... You're using "Devourers of Somethingsomething" models, right? Are Devourers actually werewolves? Or more like weredogs / hyennas / etc?

Doesn't matter too much for a fantasy counts as army, but I'm curious what Rackham says for their fluff.

+ for the hammer but you should thicken the "stick" it is mounted on. It looks very fiddly for such a big hammer. I know from my Tranids what a pain repositioning is but he looks okay. Big + for the maw I like the way it turned out. Maybe you should get rid of the back blades and add a banner. And maybe you find a place for trophies makes him mor "bosslike".

My domain went down due to the snow in Philadelphia (don't ask me to explain why it's still down four days later); I'm told it will be back up on Monday. If it's not, I'll put the pictures up on Dakka itself. And chew out my provider.
