It has always kind of annoyed me how they talk about warboss's being huge in comparison to boyz, but there models arnt really that much bigger. So my plan was to model nobz fomr warboss models, but i need some ideas on what model to use to make a larger warboss. My original plan was to use a gorger fomr the ogre kingdoms because they are pretty big. Id swap/ ocnvert the head to fit, use a cronos power klaw, and use plasticard/random bits ot make his armour. Id cut off the gorgers arms to, or maybe just the hands since they are so big. Id putty boots and pnats onto him. Any suggestions for the warboss would be grat. Just a note, i dont want a fat warboss (so no ogre tyrant models) just a big one.

If Rampage Jackson was in warhammer, he would be an ork.

I met Frank Bruno and Evender Hollyfield up close on seperate ocassions.
It's easy to not appreciate a really awesome big bruiser until you see them up close. The ork warboss similarly already has enough height on the average plastic nob to warrant his stats.

However moderation isn't one of the 40K watchwords. If you want someone visibly much bigger, take an ogre and some green stuff.

Use Ogryn with a head swap. The 3rd edition ones look great that way, you don't even have to change their weapons. If you want heavier armor on your warboss look for the old Nork Degdog model (the Ogryn Special character). His is just slightly bigger than a standard Orgryn, but not by much.

Ogryns make great Warbosses. I have one hidden within my basement somewhere. Just make sure to put a sutable ork head on him.

I don't that is what CanadianGreenskinofKhorne means. He uses warboss models as nobz and now wants something bigger to use as warboss. The old Ogryns are the same size as the warbosses, so that won't work. But with a head swap they do make nice warbosses.

To CanadianGreenskinofKhorne can I only say that if you are looking for models bigger than warbosses, the only options from GW are giants (if you want tournament compatibility). Otherwise you can try many actions figures, like He-man...

Although the models would make for a more feral warboss, you might find that using the plastic WHFB Ogres would make converting the model easier.

The way i did mine was like how people do true scale marines. You just hack apart the model and add a little space between the components. I put mine in twisted up power armor and used a lot of GS.

What about using the fantasy plastic warboss as a base and doing the sort of extensions biggerized termininators (I swear that's an actual phrase someone uses) and true-scale marines utilize?

Im pretty positive WHFB model is even smaller than the 40k one and more on the level with the plastic nob in the boyz kit.

A long time ago when I had an Ork army, I used an old Minotaur body and a River Troll head with a modified iron gob for my Warboss. It looked pretty sweet, and you could probably do something similar with the newer Minotaur models, you'd just have a lot of hair to file smooth.

Ork heads fit on plastic Ogre bodies pretty well. The problem is arms. The normal pose is a bit static but you can always use green stuff to build up the shoulders and put on ork arms or a big cyber arm.

I'm doing one for fun, I'll post a pic when he's ready.

Ah, that's a cool idea - the old Minotaurs were some great models. I can definitely see how you could easily convert one to a Warboss. Any chance of a photo on that Wienas?

Shoot you could even go bigger and use the Blood Thirster model for a completely hugely dramatic Ork warboss.. who would even make Ghazzkul look like a Grot. I have see the minotaurs used as nobs in a Goffs army once. the hands were basically stolen from the current warboss models so they were a bit small, but hell, no one really notices, unless you point that out.

I've always been tempted to give it a try with a lotrs cave troll (or maybe one of the new plastic ones coming out). Fix the feet, hands and head. The scales could be a problem unless you don't mind a bit of leathery skin and they areblubbery so I'm not sure you'd get the look you want...

A bloodthirster actually sounds just about right for Ghazghull. In the fluff he's over 6m tall.

How about the Inquisitor Scale Ork Boy? He should tower over a 40k scale warboss and look just like an ork. Little to no conversion work.

Simple new Ogryn /Ghazghull combo ,or some of the new Nobs plastics from the new kits are quite beefy.

Could you post a link to the boy? I couldn't find him at the GW-Online store.

I had to do an arm reposition for the Nob in my current mob, and had to greenstuff in a significant portion of his shoulder. I was pretty amazed how easy it is to greenstuff up some musculture, especialy when it's already there as a guide to fill in. The end result was as good as the model was originally, took very little time, and I have minimal green stuff skill (but did get some good tools).

I think you can probably take this to the next level, and bulk up a model. As has been said, put in some spacers to push the shoulders wider, the body taller, etc. Then you can bulk him up and fill in the gaps with green stuff. It's a good project to get some sculpting skills going, but not too tough that it will just discourage you.

when I build my Warboss on bike I used Ogryn legs, which makes him look much bigger.

Ogres are a nice Idea too, depending of what you had in mined for you warboss. I always thought the body from the Ninja Ogre would make a great warboss.

you could also look into Privateer Press' Trollblood line.
I think I remember SOMEONE who STATRTED converting a Dire Troll Mauler. it was a great project, but unfortunatly it NEVER GOT FINISHED! *coughcouchyoulisteningein?coughcouch*
