So 5th edition is due out in July (in the Uk anyway, August for the rest of us probably) and that means Witchhunters, Daemonhunters, Space Wolves, Necrons, Dark Eldar, and Imperial guard are all going into 5th edition with 3rd edition codices.
Edit: Here it is:
Feb - Harad
March - Vampire Counts
April - Birthday releases
May - Daemons
June - Mordor
July - 5th Edition rulebook
August -Dark Elves
September - 5th Edition Box set
October - Space Marines
November - Mortal Chaos

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

And I suppose they aren't making a combined Chaos über-army book then. Dunno how I feel about that, but Mortals definitely need the revamp! - Salvage

I wish GW would just do the "Big Book Of Chaos" for each system and be done with it!
And yes, it is rather odd that there's a whole host of 3rd edition army books making it into 5th edition...

in all of 2008 we're getting Orks and Space Marinez. Wee. Sometimes I don't think GW loves us enough.
Maybe Space Marinez will come with Inquisition and Deathwatch included, ditto the eventual guard book.

Guys, Mortals "needs" a revamp so that GW can *remove* Daemons. This way, Daemons only exists in the new Warhammer Armies: Daemons of Chaos book. As a nice side effect, GW gets to sell *3* Chaos books to each WFB player.
Alpharius, don't be silly. If GW did a big book, they wouldn't be able to sell as much stuff. As it is, 40k will have 2 books: CSM & Daemons. Eventually, they'll add a book for each of the 4 Powers, and you'll need 6 books for the full set of Chaos rules. Cha-ching!!!

I think it's about time Space Marinez got a new army list, they've been overlooked for way too long.
when did I become a marine hater? I think I'm just pissy about the traits getting ditched, which we all know will be.

Personally, I don't care if Chaos got 8 Codices, as long as each one provided different army lists, not just carbon copies of each other with different models.
Same thing with marines. Gime me a vanilla marines book, followed by Spacewolves, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Black Templars, Salamanders, and whatever else.
I enjoy reading the books, and I love acutally having different army lists to play with.

I intend to buy every chaos book GeeDub puts out, because I like chaos just generally and think it's nifty. I don't intend to play all 6 codexes, will probably stick with my undivided according to C: CSM and then my demons in C: Demons. But I'm in for the Legions, will be a fun read.

I am not a space marine player and I welcome a new space marine codex.
Right now they are out of whack with the rest of the codexes. They are one of the only armies that can still take a lot of cheap assault cannons, mini-maxed las/plas squads and semi-tooled up powerfists.

I won't mind a new Space Marine codex so long as it doesn't remove my ability to take Cleanse and Purify. I've got all my 6 man razorback squads tooled up with twin special weapons, and I really don't want to have to rearm them all.

Im surprised that more people arent pissed off about 5th edition hitting 3 years early. It really does bring up some valid questions that GW should be answering.
Although I imagine we'll get the usual spam from them saying that "the old system didnt work like we wanted" and "this is going be new and exciting", when in fact their answer should be "our investors are pissed and we need to gouge your nerd asses more frequently to get out of the crapper".

I'm not.
You forgot that 3rd edition had a least 1 "stealth" release as TAR / TVR that ended up being "official". When you consider that as part of the actual release schedule, 5th edition is right on time.

I hate to say it, but GW isn't doing as well as they would like and it shakes up the current model lines.
Well other than making the game more fun as well, presumably.
