Subject: How good do you find burna boyz, and are they worth it?

I havent had a chance to test them yet. they puzzle me and i can think of scenarios where they are amazing, and scenarios where they die without doing anything.
Good traits: Power weapon or flamer. You need to kill a lot of gaurd, set them ablaze witht he flamer. Space marines in the way, carve em up with a power weapon. They are also strength 4 power weapons on the charge with 3 attacks each. Unit of ten has 30 attacks. thats not somthing to sneeze at.
Bad traits: Expensive at 15 points a model (for an ork.) No dedicated transport option, so if you go foot slogging, youll get shot up or they will run away. You can stick em in a looted vehicle, but it will probably blow up before you get close enough. You can stick thm in a battle wagon, but that brings a unit of ten of them to a total cost of 240, and thats for a bare bones battle wagon (No guns!)
So some opinions would be nice.

If Rampage Jackson was in warhammer, he would be an ork. |

I could think of a 5boyz mob (4 burna 1 mek, the mek can repair his transport along the way,and it's a good use of the mek model in lootas' box) sitting in a cheap battle wagon being a good unit ,which can absorb some fire power from the enemy. should be ok combin with trukk or stormboyz ,in case giving enemy a difficult target priority choosing.

I'm going to try a squad, simply because I have one already built, but they're not as cool as they were in last edition (where I put them in a looted wagon, coz 3 wagons only took up one unit choice). i don't like having to use up a whole HS slot to transport them, but in a army with 3 battlewagons it wouldn't be silly

Burna boyz may come into their own with 5th edition. I hate to speculate on tactics for the next edition, but if the leaked draft of 5th edition doesn't change on the dedicated transport section, then Burna boyz could pile into a trukk on turn 1, zoom up on turn two and flame someone and assualt on turn 3. Could be quite nasty.
Buy the trukk with a cheap 12 man shoota squad with a rokkit in it that you park on an objective in 4+ cover and use it to take potshots at anything that comes in range.

If they can be screened, they'll be a viable unit again.

I saw them used very well the other day as basically a bodyguard for a Warboss. The squad, with the boss, were loaded into a battlewagon at the start. When they disenbarked, they easily won their combat, and then the following turn the Warboss went his own way into the stuff what needed killing alongside the other boyz while the Burnas wandered around lighting up a huge Guardian unit in spectacular fashion. I'd much rather stick a Warboss with Burnas than with any other unit. They are the pefect bodyguard and you can justify the cost of the Battlewagon by transporting both your Warboss and your Burnas.

I like a little 5 man squad as a nasty suprise in a gun wagon. They drop out and burninate targets of oppurtunity.
I think the power weapon thing isn't that useful against normal marines though. Termies, crisis teams and broadsides yes, but normal marines will probably go down just as easy to repeated flamings, and the marines won't get to punch you first.
They're brilliant against nids and gaurd and other orks.
