I'm nearing completion of my Imperial Guard army, and need to decide who gets Dozer Blades. I've got plenty enough, but I don't want to dump points where they'll be wasted.
Right now, I'm thinking Dozers only for the Demolishers and Hellhounds.
What say you?

I'd really wait until 5th edition before gluing anything on. I don't have any dozer blades on any of my IG tanks, and I've got a around 16 of 'em. I've wished I had dozers for my exterminators and my triple HB russes, because they tend to move and shoot alot.
I don't use demos and hounds much, but both would be prime candidates. The upgrade is pretty cheap, IIRC, and in 4th edition lets the tank play all kinds of area terrain shooting games...

Including the Atlas (ARV) that I'm working on, I've got 16 tanks without dozers, but I'm thinking that some of them should get them.

Well, we're in the same boat. My thought process has been: what tanks seem to fail dangerous terrain tests, and how badly do I care?
Indirect fire: never
Chimeras: it happens, but I almost never care because they don't score.
Demos: Happens enough, and the tank costs enough, to make it worthwhile.
LRBT: stripped it's a little silly. With triple HB's, I tend to move into cover a little more.
Exterminator: I really need to through dozers on 'em.
Hellhouds: Given AV12, I'd almost rather skirt terrain to limit the profile presented then rely on hull down.
Depending on the 5th edition rumors, however, gaining a 4+ cover save will be clutch, and nearly all tanks will be getting dozers. On the other hand, if tanks don't score, the need for mobility will be greatly diminished.
I might magnetize a tank or two with blades, but I'm going to wait for more concrete rumors. Depending on 5th, they might be crucial, or they might be garbage. They might also go up in points cost in the new codex (whenever it appears).

Hence, my initial thought of Demolishers & Hellhounds. Bassies & Chimeras - no way. Russes seem unlikely, as tney're basically just direct-fire Bassies.
Guard Tanks & options are expensive enough already, so I can't see any major increases.
But yeah, the whole 5th Ed reshuffle bit is irritating. I was just hoping to finish my Guard army for 4th Ed. But maybe I'll just work on Sisters or something.

My vote also goes to the Demolishers and Hellhounds, as they're the ones moving around. If it's not going to move or not worth the points like the Bassies, LRBTs, and Chimeras, then nah.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack |

Why not just use some magnets so that you can remove the item when needed? This would allow you to change out gear as well. This is something that I will be doing to my guard army so that I can change out any of the equipment as needed.

I'd still need to build & paint them, and I'm a little lazy, so it's partly a question of how many to make.

Hellhounds first, Demolishers second.
You don't really need it on anything else.
