I played a game yesterday, I used 2x13 tankbusters (345pts.), and tried to pop a Land Raider. After three rounds, with 6 glancing hits, the best I had done to the tank was immobilised it!
I even sent a PK nob after it to see if that would help, and I had to just move on to another target.

So my question to everyone is how the hell are we to destroy these 14 av. all around tanks?
because my tankbusters a'nt busting any tanks...

Warboss with a Powerclaw?

Claws, wreckin' balls, claws, lots of rokkits, claws and a warboss with a claw. ??

But seriously, claws are one of our best anti-armour options and nobody realizes it. 5 s9 attacks from a nob will most like ly score a few hits against a land raider and with the option to take boarding planks and wreckin' balls on trukks and wagons you can put a lot of anti-armour spread throughout your army. It's the only real sure-fire way of dealing with av14.

REMEMBER, land raiders suck anyway. They are big yachts that roll lazily around and usually don't amount to much. If one is giving you problems, punch the hell out of it!

Cool, hey thanks.
your right about the warboss with PK, I dont know why I didnt think about that, but then easyer said then done, right. Land raider usually wont sit by while your warboss walks up to hit it, and trukks are easy prey to its lascannons.
But Oh well, we'll keep try'in

And what does DEADSHANE1 mean, are you refering to the 5th ed. rules.
I hope GW made up those rules just to mess with people and leaked them on purpose.

In the fifth edition a glancing hit will never destroy a vehicle. You can at best immobilize it with a glancing hit. The only exceptions to this are if your weapon has an AP-value of 1 or if the tank you are shooting is open topped.

But to answer your question about how to get the warboss near the landraider. Put him on a bike. Hide him behind some other unit (Stormboyz for example), so that the opponent can't shoot your warboss (independant character). And when you think you are close enough, move in for the kill.

A glancing hit can destroy a vehicle in fifth if all it's weapons above S4 have been destroyed and it's been immobilised. (In before Nurglitch! )

To the main point of the thread:
-Warbosses on bikes with power claws, trukk or mob Nobs with powerclaws.
-Warpheads with Zzap! (Unlikely but it might work)

Or ignore the land raider if you're playing horde. 5 shots a turn isn't going to do much to you.
With KoS you should have enough mobile claws to deal with it. I was able to get a monolith, a land raider is easier meat.

Da Boss: I'm not sure what you're talking about. In the 5th edition pdf going around cumulative Damage results (Damage: Weapon Destroyed, Damage: Immobilized) will eventually result in Vehicle Destroyed: Wrecked results. Moreover Damage: Immobilized results after the first are converted to Damage: Weapon Destroyed, and if all of a vehicle's weapons have been destroyed then the next Weapon Destroyed result is converted to an Immobilized result.

A vehicle with four weapons, for example, could be destroyed in as few as six glancing hits - four to destroy the weapons, one to immobilize, and one more for grace.

That is, of course, where AP1 weapon is not concerned. An AP1 glancing hit could destroy a Land Raider on a damage roll of 6 (-2 for glancing, +1 for AP1).

Yes, that's what I was saying. The bit in brackets was just a reference to the fact that you always (correctly) point that out whenever anyone says "OMG Glancing hits can't kill tanks in 5th!"

Don't forget that a tank hammer is just as effective as a warboss aginst vehicles. And you get to charge them every round. The fact is Orcs have a hard time against AV 14 and 2+ armor saves and the only good solutions are in CC. That is the life of an Orc.

I think the land Raider Crusader is worth taking out instead of ignoring it. It can throw out 13 shots at 24 inches and 19 at 12 inches, with 10 (or 16 at 12") being twin-linked. This assumed you've purchased the dirt cheap pintle-mounted storm bolter for it (almost a must since it matches the range of all your other guns and is such a bargain)

I know how effective they are. I've run a pair of them in my Deathwing army to help break through the enemy's infantry. The multi-melta and assault cannon make it not shabby for dealing with armor either.

Bringing 5E into the mix it's going to be an even bigger bane against Orks, losing only one of its two main weapons when it moves 6 inches (and being able to use the machine spirit to fire it)

As a user of land raiders, I can tell you anything with a strength 8 or 9 running at me with multiple attacks has me worried right now. One lucky glancing 6 and my high-cost tanks are gone.

Does the Deathrolla work in Vehicle on Vehicle?

Are you actually performing a Tank Shock when you move into B2B? I don't think its actually called Tank Shock.

I understand that. I'll rephrase my statement:

Ignoring a standard land Raider may be a decent way to deal with it in the early game, since it doesn't get off many shots. Then you just melee it to death when you finally get across the table.

Against a LRC, however, that tactic won't work, because it will mow through your lines. You need some sort of fast-moving or long-range antitank capable of dealing with AV14. I think the bikeer boss w/ klaw is your best bet for getting to it quickly. Short of that, anything that can throw a decent amount of S8+ shots is what you want. I'm not familiar enough with the specific weapons on Orks yet to be able to recommend anything beyond that.
