Do you sometimes have a feeling of playing toy soldiers with your 40K figs?
I admit to doing it and hell I have actually recreated historical battles (from Napoleonic wars or civil war) with my 40K figs.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

I'm not sure what you're getting at....I'm not sure how recreating historical battles is different in execution than playing fantasy battles with figs. Or, for that matter, how either one isn't or is playing with toy soldiers, relative to each other.

The guys in my group make noises. I laugh at them and point.
... admittedly, however, there ARE 2 things I do.
I sometimes say "Freem" when using lascannons & I will occasionally hollar the old stand-by, "Leeeeeerrrrrrrrrooooooyyyyyy Jennnnkiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnns" when doing something that will be phenominally stupid or stupendous (usually depending on dice rolls).
As in... "My Khorne Lord with the Daemon Weapon is going to charge that unit of 8 Terminators with power fists..."

Some years ago a bunch of friends and I went to a big Star Trek fleet war megagame at a local university. We were the Klingon fleet.
We all dressed up in black clothes with black Drizabone coats, and wore make-up goatee beards and those Klingon foreheads. And we bandied about typical Klingon repartee with our effete Federation opponents.

I definitely make the "freem" sound too. Not to mention a healthy dose of trash talk (all in good fun).
As for dressing up and all that, I can only LARP and what not with my friends. If I'm with strangers it just feels weird... yet I have no problem acting like a jackass in front of random people... interesting.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

I once tricked my wife into helping me paint an IG platoon (lots of chocolate was needed) and you should have heard the scenarios she came up with. I blush to recall them...
On the OP topic, I haven't ever tried that, though I think I would probably want to get historic minis to go with a re-fight. I certainly like the idea of missions that draw from history, though, and I think people could design some really cools scenarios based history. I would actually like to see more of this in scenario design, which is why I love COD and Apocalypse for their objectives.

I often imitate my commander shouting orders to his troops during games. There seems nothing at all nerdy about that... I mean... He IS my avatar in game, the physical representation of my presence on the battlefield... the rulebook says so...
"Fire as she rolls, boys!"
"Stand and fight you dogs!"
"If you will not serve on the front, you will serve on the firing line!"
"Fall Back! Regroup and fall back!"
"Chaaaarge!"
Simple stuff. Oh and I also tend to imitate the musicians in my fantasy regiments... Ok that's kinda wierd, I admit. Especially since I'm very adamant about using the right tone (Obviously Brettonian Horns and Wood Elf Horns sound nothing alike! And then you have DRUMS!).
But uh yeah, so.. this all seems pretty normal to me...
