Subject: Any "rumors" available for the new Demonworld army?

It is my understanding that a new Demonworld army will be coming in April. I have seem the pics for the new plastic Bloodletters (cool) and Daemonettes (not so cool) and I am looking to start a new army. Does anyone have any "rumors" regarding what is in the new army? Biggest question is will it be usable in 40K or WFB only and will it be a stand alone list or will it require mortal counterparts (such as from the new Chaos SM book)?
Thanks

I don't know about fantasy, but the 40k one, will be a single book only with demons in it. and that means pretty much every demon I ever saw from GW in one form or the other.

In both systems the demons will be getting their own books. I posted fantasy rumors in a thread down the page a while back, and 40k rumors I'm sure are floating about the News & Rumors forum as well.
No idea about allies in Fantasy - particularly as the Hordes of Chaos book already has demons, who will be quite different from their counterparts soon! - but no allies for Chaos Space Marines in 40k.

Both the demon books will be stand alone lists and will not require any mortal units. The 40k is, as such *tradition dictates someone should shout YOU COULD IN APOCALYPSE here I believe* not compataible with the Chaos Marine codex. That list looks like this :
HQ : special characters : Kugath the Plaguefather, Fatreweaver, oracle of Tzeentch and Skarbrand the exiled one.
Then the 4 Greater Demons, all different stats all much more powerful than in the chaos marine book. A LOT more powerful if you follow.
Then the special character Heralds-- The Masque,Epidemius,The Bluescribes and Skulltaker, then a herald for each god. You can take 2 heralds as 1 HQ choice but the army must be led by either a GD or one of the named demons.
Elites :
fiends of Slaanesh, flamers, beasts of Nurgle and fleshhounds--option of a special character for the hounds (" Keranak").
Troops:
Bloodletters, daemonettes-- who stat wise seem very tasty, plaguebearers and horrors-- special vet champ for them option, and also furies and Nurglings who don't count as compulsory.
Fast attack : bloodcrushers, seekers of slaanesh and screamers
Heavy : Soulgrinder (fethed up defiler, add on replacement hull to convert this) and demon prince-- more options than in the chaos marine book.
If you want to play both systems I guess you'll be fine if you just put square bases on the models.

Hey what's up everyone, been a while since I posted.
I was talking to my buddy that works for GW and he was saying that he thinks the deamons will be able to ally with Chaos in the 40K version. He was saying the deamons would take up elite or fast attack choices.
That may be totally inaccurate, but I hope it is true. It would just seem like such a dumb move to not allow them to interact.

seriously, not like that has ever happened in the past....
well for what its worth, i was also told that in 5th edition infantry would take and hold objectives, not just troops.
Also, the new expansion for Dawn Of War is apparently a testing ground for new ideas with the DE and Sisters.
take it with a grain of salt, as usual, but the guys I spoke with has never given me bad info in the past.

If it is true that the new demons won't be able to ally or interact with the Chaos Marines codex in any way that will pretty much kill any interest that I have in the Demonworld codex. It will also make me very sad that my bloodletters, plaugebearers, and nurglings will all remain "generic" demons. This is also to say that they will remain unused. I have tried to make them work with the new list and I have been very unimpressed with them.

I for one am actually very excited for this. I purchased the Keeper of Secrets long before I ever purchased a single Chaos Marine. If they're not compatible, I will be a bit disappointed, but I've been looking for a non-MEQ army for a while, and this may well be it. I have a Keeper, 30 Daemonettes, and 6 Steeds, so hopefully that's a good start...

Well, imy trip is kind of a crazy idea actually, i have been planning it out for a long time and saving money for about 4 years.
I am going to ride a bicycle around the world. I think it will take about three years. I will hit every continent but antarctica in my journey.
It's funny, but one of the things i will miss most is gaming! That and my family and friends of course.
anyway, check out my blog for more info if you are interested. I will be updating it with pictures and videos as i go so that people can track my progress.

Say goodbye to Tod for me too please, i would have loved to get another shot at beating him after he pulled the upset off on me in the league playoffs last time! He doesn't always post here so i may miss him.
and im sure you have been womping on people like usual!

Technically, you shouldn't do that.
40K uses round bases. Tourneys would make square bases a no-no.
What I'd suggest is that you wait & see what kind of army it's going to be for fantasy... a skirmishing or regimented army (I don't ply WHF, so forgive me if I've used the wrong terms).
If it's an army that uses movement trays, you're golden!
Mount all the models on round bases, to be 40K "Legal," and make your skirmish trays from thin pieces of wood with recessed circles in them for the bases to rest in.
Then, you've got your movement tray movement AND your 40K legal bases.
Voila!

Per the BGB for 40K you can use the base size they came with or larger. There is no statement they have to be round opr square bases or frankly address shape at all.

I play in the uk GT every year and you see square based demons all the time, and no-one bats an eyelid.
In fact considering some of the hideous "models"* I've seen at times there over the years I wonder if the judges might in fact have some form of congenital blindness.
......*obvious GT rules FAQ joke..... HERE...*
* The paper mache squiggoths that resembled green Spot the Dogs being an obvious low point.

If the new edition drops next week or next year, the 4th edition rules are current as of this question being asked. Making major decisions off unreleased rules would be unwise.

Really? I think making major decisions (like putting all your daemons on square bases) based on soon-to-be-obsolete rules would be unwise. It's called "planning ahead".
