What is your longest losing streak? I know plenty of people have impressive win records but I would like to know people's losing streaks.

My worse happened to be 6 months worth of tournaments that was before I even tied my first game. That happened to be the worse for me but it was a good learning experience for me.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

I was on about a 3 year losing streak with my Orks. Got the new codex and finally won a game. However, before that I won almost all games I played with my Black Templars.

As soon as I saw the thread subject my immediate answer was: "Well, about a week after the previous edition Ork codex was released..." What was that, '98? '99? I remember the gamesday that year was all about ork hype, they even raffled off a complete ork army in Baltimore. Yeah, that's about when the losing started

New codex is a whole different story though...

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

I used to lose all the time before I learned how to measure.

I don't know what the streak was, but I was only winning about 15% of my games. I was horrible at measuring + I forget stuff.

But I haven't lost with the new Eldar book. I used to lose because Skimmers didn't block LoS, and guardians running.

All in a row?
that would be when the 4th edetion DA codex was released last year. i probably spent at least a good 4 months trying to find something that worked to make my pure deathwing army viable again.

I lost I think 2 games in a row once with a concocted 3rd ed Beserker army (HMBC wrote that list) that had a Khornate DP w/Bezerker Glaive, 4 squads of Bezerkers, a Defiler (no indirect) and a lascannon Predator, against a half mech tau army (got shot up) and a shooty guard army (cyclops demolition vehicles are way to powerful, especially when there are 3 of them, especially against MEQ troops).

Otherwise, I've only lost 1 40k game in the last 4 years, against a preliminary test stealer swarm list which had the stealers worth about 10 points each against a mixed CSM force.

I lost about 6 or 7 games in a row about 4 years ago with my Black Templars. I've probably played about 100 or so games with them since then, and I don't think I've lost more than a dozen of them.

My Imperial Guard are currently about 30 games into their career, with only 1 loss under their belt. I did a lot more math and theoryhammer with this list than I did with my Templars, because I actually knew what I was doing this time around, whereas when I first started with my Templars back in '99 it took me about 20 straight losses to understand the basic game mechanics. Another 20, and I was winning games fairly regularly.

To my brother's credit (my most regular opponent of Tau, Grey Knights), he doesn't play nearly as much as I do, and is not as into the concept of theoryhammering everything out.

@Darrian: Just because someone can't powergame with a list doesn't mean he or she can't make something reasonably viable. If taking 3 Falcons, 2 squads of 3 guardians on jetbikes, and a Farseer and an Autarch in a 1000 points game is your idea of a "viable," decent list, then I'm glad I'll never play against you.

@Corpsman of Krieg, If you read Mughi's post, he claims that he spent 4 months losing, trying to make his Deathwing viable. Losing for 4 months solid does not make an army reasonably viable.

My 1000 point list that you love so much is in retirement, so you will not have the oppurtunity to face it. Maybe if you make it to Adepticon this year, you can face my "viable, decent" Gladiator list. But, I wouldn't recommend you bring your Black Templar list to the Gladiator.

I remember losing my first 80 games of 40k. I kept track.
I played 3 games a week at a local FLGS, 2 at home (I miss free time), do that for a few months and you start getting dis heartened.

Of course it doesn't help I played with cheaters or that my lists were horrible. I can remember in a 1250 list I put a landraider and a 5 man termi squad (in early 3rd edition) :(

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Last Memorial Day I played in a RTT that I lost 2 games in a row, and ending up 1-2.

That is the only time I have ever had a losing record at an RTT.

Of course I could blame it on the fact that all 3 missions where escalation.

Strategy games never were my strong point. It was always RPG type stuff.
I play strategy games for the minis & the socializing.

I'd have to say my streak was in the 75-90 area.

I've been playing 40K for about 6.5 years. For the first 2 or so I was VERY casual. I had a win:lose ratio of about 1:6. I was THAT casual.... and I have a HORRIBLE memory, so elarning everything & keeping it straight was a beeotch.

Then I moved home to the St. Louis area & met up with my current gaming group... turns out that the guys I played against before weren't really "all that," either. I just sucked THAT bad. The guys in my group now are spectacular. We're talking regular tourney winners (when they feel like going to a tourney).

Needless to say, they annihilated me for a couple years, regularly, before I finally started coming up to snuff. Every week to every other week, 1 or 2 games a night. Now, I can beat one of them about a fifth of the time, and the other about a fourth... usually.

Sometimes, though, they just get my number and I end up walking funny.

I've become a good player from gaming with them... now, I just have to learn how to build a dang army!

Did you find something?

Yes
my old list was terminator heavy. with new squad limits, gear limits, firepower redutions (and belial) it just wasn't a viable list.
i go beat down by eldar, DIY marines, legion of the damned, IG etc...
i tried several incarnations slowly changing from a pure DW list to a mixed wing and then mixed wing with batttle company support. i finally revisted the pure list when i mechanised it and it has peformed well every since. my pure ravenwing list got diluted by battle company support in the form of whirlwinds and a land raider helios which became neccisary given the drop in firepower the RW took in the new dex.

I've never once in my life won a game of 40k.

But then again I'm somewhat of a noobie, coming up on two years now for me since I started playing. I'd estimate that's roughly 40-50 games total.

You'd think that'd be discouraging. But what are the Guard for, if not to die for the Emperor?

Also, I fight mostly marines.

Mine was when i started playing tau with the first incarnation of the rules.

It was tough with that old list, i got sucked into the fluff and look of the army.

I bought a bunch of battle suits and fire warriors but not much else.

My army wasnt mechanized which appears to be the key to the army especially now.

I dont remember how long of a losing streak i had with that army, but i had the thing for about two years and then sold it off. I only won about 10 games in that span of time.

So ya i have a much better win record when playing my chaos marines. But i could tell you what it is, probly like 50% or something.

Guess my longest loosing streek was when I was learning the game back in the Rouge Trader days. I was working under the advice of the guy who taught me the game. He did a good job but it took me a while to learn the ropes. Since then I haven't had any significant loosing streeks (2-3 games in a row, tops)

Man, I wish my pee pee was as big as lords2001s...

Just kidding man- well done.

My worst losing streak wasn't necessarily my longest, but it was my most aggravating. There was an Iyanden player that I just couldn't catch a break against. Iyanden! I would try more and more outlandish tricks, and they would inevitably backfire. Chaos Lord with full Terminator retinue deep-striking on to the objective? How 'bout double 1 on the scatter dice! Running 3rd edition patrol mission? How 'bout not one showing up till turn 5! I literally could not find a way to beat this guy, and my desperation made it only worse. Of course he'd lose to just about everyone else.
