Subject: Why does Black Library hate the RoW?

I guess this is going to be a bit of a rant, but I'm really frustrated. Why does Black Library release it's books a full month earlier in the UK than it does the rest of the world? Is all the printing done in the UK and then exported to the RoW, or does the company hire printing companies in the other countries to do this?
There are a couple of releases I'm really looking forward to this year and after perusing the BL website I realized that I'm going to be getting my hands on them a full month later than my English counterparts. I could understand if the extra-time were used for translation, but in America we're getting the same spellings that are received in the UK. I would gladly wait the extra month if it meant that a master-editor painstakingly poured over each copy with a magnifying glass and delicately erased all the "u"s from the "armour"s and replaced all the "'s'ings'" with "'z'ing'"s, but on April 8th I'm going to get my books and they're going to have the same (from an american perspective) goofy english spellings for all the words.
I can understand if all the publishing is done in the UK. It makes sense to supply the home crowd first. But if there is a printer in North America who's on hold simply for some marketing ploy, then gosh-darnit, that really ticks me off. Oh well. I wonder if it'd be worth having someone send it from the UK to me. The utility i'd get out of having the book 3 - 2 weeks earlier probably isn't worth the doubling in price. Plus the conversion rate would eat me alive. Does anyone else share my pain?

I would guess all printing is done in the UK (I could check my BL books but that would mean getting up from my chair).
in publishing there a fee for printing the books called 'make ready and run' that you pay whether you're doing 1 copy or 15,000. So printing oh, 10k in the US and 5k in the UK is much more expensive than printing 15k in one place. Plus a larger print run, UK demand+US+Canada+Aus+rest of world means lower unit costs and more barganing power with the printer.
So there you go. YOu could always buy them from the UK, even normal air freight will get them to you in a week or so.

Patience is a virtue. Referring to English spelling as 'goofy', not so much.
It's a common thing that different parts of the world have to wait for different things. 90% of cinematic releases from the US take weeks to be released over here. It's something we all have to come to terms with, really.
I'm sure in theory BL could wait until they'd printed enough copies to supply the WHOLE WORLD in one fell swoop before they sold any at all, but it's not sound practice. For starters, they start making profit earlier, and sales data from a smaller region may be useful if they want to predict worldwide sales, so they don't over- or under-print.
Just a thought.

Just happened to have my copy of Galaxy in Flames beside me. "Printed and bound in Great Britain by Bookmarque, Surry, UK." So there you go.

Thanks for the consolations. I fully respect the wait now. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings with the "goofy" comment. I meant it more in jest than anything else.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Alright, I just got off the phone with the President, and he's cool with it if you are, but he needs you to extend the first olive branch. Simply make Legion available at any North Carolina Barnes and Noble by the end of the week and we'll make sure to ship those movies.
