I've been seeing AT-43 at a local store and have gotten curious about it. It seems moderately priced for a pre-painted wargame. What's it like? I don't need to worry about fluff , i just want to know how it plays, is it a fast game, is there a a fair amount of tactics, what's the learning curve? you know, general info.

It's pretty quick to play(we've done 2k in 1-1.5 hours) and once you get down the universal chart, it's a pretty easy rule set(thanks to the cards). It's not IGOUGO, each turn is a secret alternate activation(bid Leadership Points, roll, highest roll+bid wins first activation). Tactics and Drills are really important to the game. You can probably pick up the rules just by watching a game start to finish and asking questions(as long as the players don't mind, of course). If you like it, definitely pick it up, it's a great game.

Just remember folks. Panic. Panic all the time. It's the only way to survive, other than just being mindful, of course-but geez, that's so friggin' boring. - Aegis Grimm

It is pretty wicked. I just wish someone in the DC area played it!

When I play AT-43, I feel like I'm playing what 40K should be, because it almost feels like 40K but it's also really good. The Secret Activation order, Vehicles that have hit locations and damage points, the use of Leadership points to give your units orders or do tricky things with you activation orders all combined to make an amazing game. It's prepainted so your ready to use a unit as soon as you buy it, Armies are affordable (a good starting 2000 point armies will run around $250). It's fun and it's fast to play.
