With the upcoming release of the new daemons book for 40K and fantasy and the unfortuante truth that no plastic nurgle daemons will be released, I thought that maybe it would work if the new vampire counts ghouls could be converted as plague daemons. I was wondering if anybody would have problems with them just being ghouls with round bases counting as daemons? Or would I have to convert them?

Thanks

Meh, people use 'counts as' stuff all the time.

If you were to customise them and make them look plague encrusted and bloated and whatnot, I can't see why anyone would object.

Semirelated, I give it 6 months before GW releases a second wave of demons in plastic that includes the missing Nurgle and Tzeench plastic core choices.

Yep, I can definitely see that. It'll make for a good mid-year, "things-are-slow" release.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

They'd make great mutants for a Lost & The Damned army... oh wait...

Never mind.

Several people have mentioned doing this. I think the models would be excellent murgle demons-I mean thats really what they are. They are choice minis, they are plastic, and they are less expensive. Whats not to like?

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

Studderingdave elsewhere on here has made very cool nurgle demons out of plastic dryads + zombie heads / guts + green stuff. Look great. I think now he's making more plague bearers out of pestigors / khornegors / plastic gors with loads of green stuff and evil.

So basically, the ghouls might work great, just need a tube of GS ftw.

I just picked up a box of the ghouls for my wife's VC army and they models have alot of potential to use as daemons. You really don't need to do much conversion at all unless you just feel like it. The sprue also comes with plenty of extra heads and bitz. I recommend that you get a box and work some up. I think they would look great.

if you want to make them look all boil and pustule encrusted, you can use a little sand mixed with glue. just brush the sand glue mixture, very very thin on the area where the pustules are desired. once it hardens, paint. i used the same technique on an ent i sculpted. as long as you dont go too heavy it comes out lookin pretty good. experiment on something first.

They would make better daemons than they would make ghouls, that's for sure. Man, they're ugly... which works for the Plaugelord's minions.

Also consider WHFB ogres- there's a Seattle local who uses them for Nurgle daemons. I played against them in the 'Ard Boyz, and man do they look good.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Well, since 40k deamons have been neutered, I am inclined to think any minis will suffice.

I mean, it isn't like they are plaguebearers or anything... Oh, I just got an absolutely horrible idea to put Nurglings on normal bases and march them into battle as my Nurgle Deamons...

Depending on the amount of work you want to put into a mini, you have a million options open to you. Really, with the new Codex, anything goes.

I've used that approach to add texture to terrain, but I never though of trying it on a model.

Thanks for the idea, I'm going to have to try it.

i would use them in a nurgle army, but as lesser daemons not plague bearers.
