So, I'm thinking this falls more under "Fluff" than army list, but it could really be either...
Back when I picked up the Warhammer edition featuring the Bretonnians and Lizardmen, I started a Bretonnian army. I'd also already started an empire army previously and liked armies from both. Slowly getting back into the Fantasy scene I uncovered these models and thought about what kind of background they might have.
I'm thinking somewhere along the line an Empire Lord married a Bretonnian princess (attending a College of Magic, perhaps?) and a pact was made between the two kingdoms. This is the bit of fluff I thought might be interesting if fleshed out.
As far as the actual models go, I'm using Bretonnian infantry and Empire Knights. Most likely going with the Empire army lists, rules-wise. Just throwin' it out there as I don't really remember the story I had been working on at the time. If you can also figure out a way for them to associate themselves with my Dwarf army as well, that'd be even better

You could always do a Empire border province on the Bretonnian border, vaguely similar to Alsace-Lorraine or some such. That way you'd basically have Bretonnian style peasants and their Empire overlords.

Bretonnian border lords are still 100% Bretonnian because its culture is geared that way.
However Empire border lords are more open to outside influences, especially those border lords close to or in fealty to the city state of Marienburg, as they would have more independence from the Empire, which is in itself cantoned.
I could see Bretonnian religion meaning something to them, and I can see independent border lords requesting and aquiring help from questing knight bbands or even chantrys. Also border lords would have their own standards of knighthood, without the centralised knight orders, but local feudal overlords instead. not every knight should be part of an order, standard feuldal 'ritters' should be available. Essentially Knights of the Realm without the faith benefits.
Would they get visions of the grail and disappear for far places, likely not, but could they request aid or ally yhemselves with a Grail chapel and their attendent knights - quite likely.
If an 'Empire' border lord asked for help against orcs from a grail chapel, he could well be granted aid. After all killing the orcs is righteuos and honourable work, and protecing their neighbours lands is a way of protecting their own. After one of two battles of cooperation ties would be formed. Just so long as evetryone is clear whos side they are on if an Elector Count and a Bretonnian duke fell out, as they are want to do, they can get on just fine bashing the forces of evil together.
In time small border territories, who were given a lot of de facto independence anyway, could become multi-cultural worshipping both Sigmar and the Lady. The problem is not the nobility, but the commoners. Commoners from the Empire follow the germanic pattern and have a lot of independence. The merchant, professional and artisan classes would have a lot to lose from the institution of btretonnian culture, which is both backward and highly discriminatory.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

This reply is spam - since I've always seen GW fluff as totally malleable - if they can change it to sell more figures, we can change it to have more fun - but that sounds like a great modelling opportunity. I wonder how well the militia and men-at-arms sprues mix together.
