For either Imperial Space Marines or Imperial Guard: Mountain of Power Procession by Basil Poledouris.
Whenever I listen to that song, I think of some military parade involving either one of the above factions. So freaking cool.

It's the only thing strong enough to kill that much false metal. The only redeeming things in that list are Amon Amarth and Rhapsody. the IG and Tyranids are good picks on that list too

Says the one linking to THAT trash. The opening was just obnoxious to listen to, and it didn't get better after that. Nightwish is at least pleasant to listen to; the one you linked to is one of the worst metal pieces I've ever heard.

Sorry if there are any repeats. Hard to keep track with so many posts.
Inquisition, etc.: Nile - Cast Down the Heretic (just ignore the whole Egyptian thing...)
WFB trolls: Finntroll - Trollhammeren
TH/SS Termies: Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face
Black Templars: Iced Earth - The Reckoning
Tau: Korpiklaani - Rise (the whole elemental thing with the castes)
Necron: Powerman 5000 - Son of X-51
Kevorkian Death Cycle - Static
Space Wolves: Amon Amarth - take your pick (although I suggest Cry of the Blackbirds or Twilight of the Thundergod)

Its so sad when no one appreciates the value of great music.... Automatically Appended Next Post: Die Walkure wins over all. I think that song alone should just theme all of warhammer 40k. The entire opera. all hour and five minutes of it.

For any battle involving humans, IG/ SM "Journey to the line" by Hans Zimmer seems to fit well with me. Especially the idea of the Dawn of War deployment. Here is an edited version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m4e30ZdYXc&feature=related At 3:50 the battle is about to begin I reckon.

I've read a lot of people mention "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath, linking mostly to the Space Marines.
Personally (And although of course this is a single unit and not a chapter) I'd say that track would really fit a Dreadnaught specifically or even Chaos Oblitoraters. Yeah!

I never really got the whole metal thing in regards to 40k, although I was never a great fan in the first place.
For Tyranids I'd go with something slightly ambient, Swamp Cult by Aklo or similar.
Sisters of Battle I'd agree with Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.
Maybe Danse Macabre for Necrons, something with a creepy edge to it, instead of the tradition electronica and so on.
Halls of the Mountain King might work for the very tense, epic moments as a whole as well.
