I'm amazed by the skulls did you sculpt each or did you mould them somehow?
As for the the fangs might be easier to just drop a small rectangle of putty at the desired spot and just cut triangles into, get rid of the excess material and shape them a bit with a needle if you want some curves ?
Great work as always mate, why you do with plasticard is like magic to me ahah

The skulls are a mould from on of the new Berserker chests. I removed the skull as best I could and then made a copy of that. There is no way in hell I am making my own skulls.
Every attempt to do so with left-over greenstuff I had was a disaster lol.
As for the teeth, yea, I will have to do them via putty.
I find it tough at that scale though. Since there is basically no mass to stick anywhere and anchor it, it is super fragile and the least amount of force moves the whole piece.
The plasticard, on that scale is super pliable.
Once the plastic cement hits it, it becomes like a wet noodle.
You could techncially sculpt it a bit. It becomes a sort of instant spruegoo.
But still touch enough to hold it's shape if you don't force it too hard.
The hard part is getting the pieces. It usually take sa few failures, but since they are so fine you loose virtually no material lol. For the thin stripes though it is really easy with a goo d pair of clippers like the godhand. It cuts more easily than a scalpel for that sort of thing. No curling, and you can see better what you are doing than with a knife I find.
But then? Just roughly put it where you need the piece to be, and touch the brush with the glue vaguely in the same area and it will pull the glue all around the pieces. Since it's plastic there is no way it is coming off afterwards and you can sand it perfectly.
Small details liek that absolutely do not stick with putty in my experience. They do...but it does not take much force to break them off. Even just from sanding. So I try to put some glue on the sides at least to keep them in place once they have cured. Don't like using glue while sculpting because it means you cannot go back..

Small update, but I wanted to show it anyway.
Neither the chest nor the shinpad are done, but already the tone has shifted a lot.
Definitely heading in the right direction.
Also god save me if I have to add rivets to that symbol.....
And yes, the leg will almost certainly end up slightly crooked but it's not worth cutting into segments and reassembling for a minor angle adjustment.
I just hope it won't be too noticeable.

progress shot.
That is not going to be the backpack I use for him I think.
I will probably go for more of a pseudo icon look.
I just had extra putty left over and started working on that one.

First of all the progress look amazing !
2nd , thank you for the detailed process and explanation on plasticard and your sculpting work, definitely going back to it to experiment things myself !
Finally while I think I do visualise what you want to achieve with the lunging posture it seems a bit odd doing so with your back to the icon ?
What you could do to keep the same pose with the arms over extended and all is plant the icon behind him diagonally and him over or directly on a dead / beheaded foe, giving the vibe that he has just executed an enemy as an offering to khorne ?
It's brilliant anyway and I'm thrilled to see some updates!
Keep up the great work !

Just remembered a thing about plasticard at that scale. I try to do as much as I can, but you probably won't be able to cover everything.
You don't have to.
Any connective "holes"/gaps can be covered with a little bit of putty. You might be able to see it on the khorne icon on the chest. You can sometimes press two pieces of plasticard together and they will literally melt together, but that won't always work.
To get a solid connection, you probably want to press hardish on the piece regardless. I usually press them down with the flat of my fingernail.
You have a minute or so of work time to re-adjust if you move it.
Also, those throw-away razor blades work very well at this scale. They are better at cutting pieces and will get your straighter edges im my experience. I will sometimes glue a whole strip because it it is easier to place/hold, and then once it has dried, I will go in with the razor and cut off where it would stop on the model, although that only really works on overhangs like near the backpack vents.
Also, you know...have a magnifying glass ready if you can lol Automatically Appended Next Post: SarpedonofSotha wrote:First of all the progress look amazing !

The idea was the same as the standing pose. He plants the banner and challenges any takers.
Now the corpse, yes, awesome idea, but I usually try to stay away from that sort of thing.
I try to keep away from adding any given race into the models/bases, because it looks weird if you are fighting a different race.
I would have to try it on for size regardless, for this model it would probably look pretty neat indeed.
Hadn't considered that actually, obvious as though it may seem lol.

Oh. Yeah.. hadn't thought of that, now that you mention it it seems kinda obvious as well ahah
But then again I don't use plasticard much mainly because I never really took time to try an use it, also there like a ton of different shape, size, width and such to chose from and I wouldn't know where to start
Seeing your blog though, I may very well try my hand at it especially with all your tips !
So again thanks a bunch !
And I do have to invest a bit in a a good magnifying glass, I used to have an old modeling lamp but it's gone and have hear good things about dentist glasses with different magnifying lens..
Do your thing anyway, I don't play so most of my bases are for display use only, and I chose theme that matches the lore of my marines. Therefore I tend it becomes kind of an habit to put dead tyranid bits on my bases ( it helps clearing the bit of as well )
But I do understand that it's a bit weird on tabletop to have a khornate berserker beheading a poor guardsman while facing necrons !

Ok, so I think I can call the leg finished, the chest still needs some spikes but I think I will do those last. Otherwise I'll just end up knocking them off when trying to fit the arms and shoulderpads.
I still don't know about the arms/weapons, and the legs/feet might need some adjustment but I think I would mostly go with this combo.
Backpack will be a bit of a project too I fear and I probably want some kind of tabard or so going on....but I'm also kind of liking it as is.
It's something I can put on last I think.
The pose at least is working with the extra trimming and stuff.

OK, I need some help deciding.
Should I go with just the numbers, or number with lines above and below?
I would need to clean up the lines, those are just two thin pieces I had lying around, but close enough for a preview.
I kind of like both.
