It's a new project instead of one you've been working on for 10+ years. It's bound to give you a burst of inspiration.

I have had an urge to paint lately but it has been too cold to properly prime. Other then priming in doors, any one have any suggestions or alternatives?

This time of year everybody is doing these awesome reviews of what they did. I feel like 2017 was a super game filled year but very little of it was in the GW realm. My goal for 2018 is simply going to be to paint more. I have all sorts of great models that need some love and attention.

I did want to share with you guys some amazing pictures I took from a christmas winter model train exhibit. Every year in Indy they have a train set they get out where everything, except the trains, is made from natural components. They have all sorts of amazing models of buildings and local landmarks, and nearly everything is made of wood. Any ways, I have said all of this hoping that it will motivate me to upload the pictures and then post them.

Looking forward to seeing what you're up to in 2018!

Thanks CommissarKhaine!

Okay, here are some. Tell me if you want more.

I liked this one because it had a fully functioning geyser! It went off every five minutes. This was it while it was getting ready to shoot up into the air about 12 inches or so.

I really liked this one. That cliff and the back row of buildings looked like one solid piece of wood. There was a tunnel across the top as well.

I liked this little scene. The ski lift was carrying passengers up the hill and the building up front was great. Inside all of the windows you could see little rooms with furniture and a bar. Very neat.

Of all of the buildings and impressive landscapes. I thought this simple frozen pond was pretty impressive. I'd love to have that on my board.

I am glad you have enjoyed them. It was a neat place. After looking at the pictures I laughed at how few trains were actually in them. There were trains everywhere but I hardly paid attention to them, I was so drawn into the terrain.

Speaking of terrain. Moon and I have played several games of Necromunda over the past few months. That playing has prompted me to work a little more on some random terrain bits. Last GenCon I had purchased some tires, fuel canisters, and a few other things. I have glued them together into small bunches of terrain, easier and more stable then leaving them all separate. I have also been working on some new Ice Angels. I am not sure I want to share more about that though. They may have some significance in my fluff. I don't want to spoil anything.

With that being said, I have also been waylaid with requests from my wife to paint some mini's for some other games. First and foremost, my gloomhaven miniatures. The Scythe mini's are on that list as well, but we do not play that nearly enough for me to take the time to paint those things quite yet.

Thanks guys.

Cam I can't wait to see what you come up with for your own version of pipes. I have also been very impressed with the Sector Mechanicus stuff, the pipes and generators. Very nice. I am hoping the weather will cooperate this week so I can get some priming in. I think I'll be adding them to my list of orange mechanicum stuff.

I have an interesting predicament though. My board is white with blue shading underneath. I would prefer to have my Necromunda terrain be interchangeable. I am thinking of replacing the blue with a gray and trying to turn the new stuff into an ash like look. I'm sure there are plenty of ashes in Necromunda underhives. I think its time for a test piece.

This past Sunday moonpie and I had a fantastic game of Necromunda. It was the first time we had played using the new rules for 3d terrain. I am using the stock goliath gang and models. He was using the stock escher models.

Here is out battlefield.

A couple things to talk about with this table. First of all it has some sector mechanicus stuff in. Some of my new terrain bits, unprimed unfortunanetly, it has an Age of Sigmar house, which I think fits in great. It also has this gem.

This piece is very special to me. It is a piece of terrain I made when necromunda first came out in 95. It is the only piece of home made terrain that I have kept all these years. The pool is a huge mess of glue that I hit with food coloring. I used so much glue that it warped the bottom of the terrain feature. It has real rocks on it and I love it. When I made this all those years ago I was really proud of this piece. It makes me smile to think about all of the games that we fought around and on this piece. I don't know how many gangers fell to their death into that chemical pit. I hope you guys enjoy this small piece of gaming history for myself and pie but this piece brings back a lot of awesome memories. I do not think I will ever do anything to it so that I can keep this small bit of nostalgia.

Now that that has been explained lets continue.

We played a boarder dispute scenario. For those of you who don't know anything about it. Each gang gets d3+3 models chosen at random. From those, one is randomly drawn to be the active disputing member. Moonpie drew his weakest ganger chick. I drew my close combat specialist. These two models start dead center of the board within an inch of one another. The other members are placed elsewhere on the board, at least 12 from the center and no closer then 6 to any other model. So you end up with a nice spread out deployment. The remaining gang members are all in reserve. There was also some business about relics and other junk, but we don't need to get into that.

I did not take notes or turn by turn pictures. I won't do that until we actually paint these guys and have a fully painted terrain set. That being said, the game was hilarious and an absolute blast. Moonpie wanted to go first so he could run away and use the range of his lasguns to take my guys out. I wanted to go in first so I could hack apart the little girls. Luckily for me. I went first. I cut his center girl before she could complain. He then proceeded to blast the hell out of my champion. He went down. Turn two he moved in to take him out. Before he could, I took out the nearest Escher with my combat shotgun guy who ran out into the open to do so. To Moonpies frustration, my champion decided to get back up. Being that he is a dumb goliath, he continued moving forward. Reckless aggression often wins necromunda, fyi. While his gang bottled out and his members were loosing their cool, I pressed on and took out many while he continued to pepper my champion. He had several flesh wounds and was pinned multiple times, but some how he managed to survive it all and in the last turn charge over to his relic. The game ended there.

Games like these really spark the urge to paint and work on this stuff. I can not wait for the next round.

That is wonderful IceAngel, that is what I have always found with Necromunda, such a fun and exciting game, glad to here it still has an edge to it.

Love the old terrain, it is not as shocking as you think though, looks ok. And the memories it holds in its stones are priceless.

I have some prety similar old Necromunda terrain I think. My chem pit was lots of scorpion green and washes thoug, for a truly toxic look . Loving the look of that table!
