A lot of waste in this list. I'm no gaurd expert, but here are a few things:

Vox's are a waste, you get the LD bubble for free.
Your Leman Russ doesn't know what it wants to be. It is an infantry killer, take 3 x heavy bolters and drop everything else, comes in at 155 points.
Why are you taking an armored crew compartment on a vehicle that is supposed to be hiding?
Drop the Sentinels, take another Leman Russ instead. Remember, 2 is a threat, 1 is a target.
With all the points saved, drop the Heavy bolters from your line squads and make them Lascannons. Your list has far too few Lascannons.

Good to see you agreeing with me for a change.

But, ok, yeah, this list - henceforth known as the 114th Ultrabloat Dragoons - needs a lot of work. Let's start by going over just how many points you've wasted on bloat.

114th Ultrabloat Dragoon Command HQ
Junior Officer 40
-Honorifica Imperialis 25
-Bionics 5
Standard 11
Medic 11
Master Vox 25

Bionics, Master Vox and Medic. One unit in and you've already wasted 41 points.

Mortar Squad 80

Make that 121 points. Why in the Emperor's Most Holy Name are you bringing Mortars? Explosives that are worse than Bolters and hit about 1/6th of the time? Forget that...

Fire Support Squad 35
-3x Autocannons 60
Total: 95

Nothing wrong there.

Special Weapons Squad 35
-3x Sniper Rifles 30
-Light Infantry 10
Total: 75

Oh dear...

1. Sniper Rilfes don't work in 40K. You need 10 of them to cause any damage.
2. Sniper rifles don't work in 40K! They are bad weapons!
3. Now we're at 196 points save. That's a GOOD sized platoon right there.

Special Weapons Squad 35
-2x Meltagun 30
-Demo Charge 10
-Light Infantry 10
Total: 85

Ok, Light Infantry isn't going to help these guys. All its going to do is single them out. Oh, what's that? A unit with 2 Meltaguns and a HUGE explosive device coming near me? Oh well, I'll just pay attention to that unit for less than 10 seconds and all 6 T3 wounds will vanish in a heartbeat.

There's nothing wrong with the actual unit, it's just that Light Infantry won't help them. 206 points.

Elites
Techpriest Enginseer 45
-Signum 15
-2x Technical Servitor 20
Total: 75

By the Emperor... never take Tech-Priests. Waste of a Doctrine point in every way. They don't do anything useful.

281 points wasted.

Hardened Veterans
Vet Sgt 13
9 Veterans 80
-Vox Caster 5
-3x Plasma Gun 30
Total: 128

Why are you taking a full sized squad? Do you need that many BS4 Lasguns? These guys are a suicide unit. They Drop in, kill something, then die. Reduce to 5 in size, and drop the vox.

326 points saved.

Troops
Platoon 1
Command Squad
Junior Officer 55
-Bolt Pistol 1
-Vox Caster 5
-Medic 5
Total: 72

Why does this unit need a medic? And your points are off, this unit should cost 57 points. Not sure where you got 55 points for the JO. And the Medic costs 11 points, not 5. In any case:

Voxes = Bad
Medic = Bad
Bolt Pistol = Unecessary
Lack of Iron Discipline = Very bad!

For the moment we'll just cut the junk out of the unit, and correc the price, so now we're at 352 points saved.

Squad 1 60
-Vox Caster 5
-Heavy Bolter 10
-Plasma Gun 10
Total: 85

Squad 2
(as squad 1)
Total: 85

Bad weapon combination. Flamer goes with HB to make cheap-cannon fodder squads. Plasma Guns go with ACs as they're perfect for one another, or Lascannons because, while no special weapon actually fits with the Lascannon, atleast their share the same AP value.

And the voxes are junk. 362 points saved.

Platoon Total: 242
Platoon 2
(as platoon 1)
Platoon Total: 242

And it has all the same problems. 398 saved.

Fast Attack
Rough Rider Squadron 1
-5x Rough Riders 45
-5x Hunting Lances 15
-Vox Caster 5
Total: 65

Your points are off again. This unit would cost 60 points. And this unit will die in a heatbeat, so why the vox? Another 10 points saved, bringing us to 408 points.

Rough Rider Squadron 2
(as squadron 1)
Total: 65

Make that 418 point saved.

Sentinel Squadron
2x Armageddon Sentinels 110
-2x Armoured Crew Compartment 30
Total: 140

Armoured Crew Compartments do not make you more durable, they just make you worth more VPs when destroyed. Nothing will ever change the fact that you're an AV10 vehicle and can be reduced to slag from bolter fire. Never take 'armour' upgrades on AV10 vehicles.

We're at 448 point saved now.

Heavy Support
Leman Russ 140
-Hull Lascannon 15
-Pintle Heavy Stubber 12
-Rough Terrain Mod 5
Total: 172

This is by far the most perplexing unit in your entire army, and the one that you'll really have to explain to me.

Why are you taking an Anti-Infantry tank (Battlecannons are anti-infantry weapons), then giving it an anti-tank gun (Lascannon) and then giving it another anti-infantry weapon (Pintle-stubber) but not giving it Heavy Bolters?

You do realise that for 2 points less than the Stubber, you can give it not one but two heavy bolters. Just so you've got that, this is a comparison between:

12 Points for 3 S4 AP6 shots vs 10 points for 6 S5 AP4 shots?

Please tell me you see the problem here.

Never mind the fact that if you fire the Battlecannon (which you should be doing every turn unless you are actually prevented to via no LOS or being Shaken), that you can't fire these guns anway! Hull Heavy Bolter and maybe Sponson guns. Nothing else.

The RTMs are a waste. Why are you moving?

That's another 17 point saved, so 465 points.

Basilisk (Armageddon Pattern) 100
-Armoured Crew Compartment 20
-Indirect Fire 25

Like your Sentinels, your Basilisk is very lightly armoured. If someone is shooting at it, chances are you've done something wrong, they're a Deep Striking unit with Meltaguns (in which case the armoured crew compartment won't help you), or it's counter-battery fire and you're going to die.

The 30 points you've spent doesn't magically change your side/rear AV to anything above 10, so it's wasted points.

That brings us to 475 points on bloat. I'll say that again, because it really astonishing:

Four-hundred and seventy-five points wasted on meaningless wargear and some utterly unimaginable choices.

That's more than a quarter of your entire army spent on bloat? What's worse is that at the end of it, you have exactly 40 men (HQ and other stuff doesn't count). You have 4 squads at 100 points less than tournament standard. I bring 5 squads at 1000 points.

I'm not going to do a rebuilt for this list like I normally would because it would be so utterly different that it would cease being your list and I'd just be doing another completely different list for you. If I did that, you would learn nothing.

What you need to do is take a look at this list, take a look at the fact that 27% of your points are invested in bloat, and re-do the whole thing yourself. Then I'll take another look.

H.B.M.C, can you enlighten me as to why voxcasters are bloat? I always found them useful, but maybe I am missing something.

Vox-casters allow you to spread your Officers' Leadership values to other squads.

The Leadership Bubble that all Officers have also allows you to spread their Leadership to other squdas.

The first one costs points. The second one is free. Why pay points for something you get for free anyway?

/Agree with h.b.m.c, also I see you've taken the sharpshooters doctrine but I don't see it bought on any of your squads if you aren't using it close order drill is always free.

But wouldn't the Master Vox/ Vox expand this Ldr sphere? I understand your point, I am just trying to decide what wopuld be best for my IG army. Wasted points is not good. And the "bloat" phrase is a keeper .

Why would you need to expand your Leadership Sphere? A 24" diameter circle is pretty big, and combined with one or two other JO's, a Standard Bearer, and Iron Discipline, you don't need anything more than that.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
