Drop Trooper with Demo Charge

Since HBMC, Stelek etc. are on a roll with their IG critique at the moment, I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and ask for some advice. I've been tweaking this list for a while now, but I've only just got around to making a serious effort to put it togerther. I realise that playtesting is the only real way to perfect an army list, but to be honest I can't afford to buy models I'm not going to end up using, so I want the list to be as close to 'right' as it can be before I start.

HQ
Junior Command Squad - Honrifica Imperialis, Iron Discipline, Vet. with Standard - 81

ELITES
5 Veterans - 3 Plasma Guns - 75
5 Veterans - 3 Plasma Guns - 75

TROOPS
Junior Command Squad - Iron Discipline, 2 Flamers - 57
Infantry Squad - Plasma Gun, Lascannon - 95
Infantry Squad - Plasma Gun, Lascannon - 95
Infantry Squad - Plasma Gun, Lascannon - 95
Infantry Squad - Plasma Gun, Lascannon - 95

Junior Command Squad - Iron Discipline, 2 Flamers - 57
Infantry Squad - Plasma Gun, Autocannon- 85
Infantry Squad - Plasma Gun, Autocannon- 85
Infantry Squad - Plasma Gun, Autocannon- 85
Infantry Squad - Plasma Gun, Autocannon- 85

FAST ATTACK
6 Rough Riders - Hunting Lances - 66

HEAVY SUPPORT
Leman Russ - Hull Heavy Bolter - 145
Leman Russ - Hull Heavy Bolter - 145
Basilisk - Indirect Fire - 125

TOTAL - 1546

As you can see I'm over by 46 points. I've considered losing the Honorifica and the flamers, but they're important for the theme of my army (which is ecclesiarchy based) so I'm reluctant to lose them. I could lose the second veteran squad, but I'm worried that having only one would be too unreliable. Any other ideas as to what I could lose would be much appreciated, as would any other thoughts or comments from anyone.

Thanks

2nd Platoon is off on its point count.

Auto cannon points are your issue. That alone saves you about 40 points from what I saw. Now you just need to take out 6 points and your set.

Maybe drop one flamer out of the platoon as well and then take a flamer from Platoon A and put it in your comman squad? This would give you a flamer in each command squad and allow you to have an even total on your points?

Nice list. To bad you could not incorporate a Hellhound into the army. Just from a fluff point of view, as you said the flamers were part of the theme. And it is an excellent cover clearing wpn.....

Platoon two, drop your plasma guns and rework your flamers like I posted up top. The only other option is to change out your auto cannons which would put a dent in your over all effect. To me your auto cannon and plasma guns would cause a conflict which might force you to make a bad call. I would just drop the plasma guns and deal with the the fact that you have four less plasma guns. You could drop two auto cannon and drop two plasma guns?

HQ 2x flamers
1. auto cannon
2. auto cannon
3. plasma gun
4. plasma gun

This would allow you to have units that will be moving which is sometimes a great thing to have.

Just an idea for the points your talking about.

one thing you could also do is put the honorifica in on the second JO to give you a wider command bubble to be able to either use the JO w/ honorifica's LD in morale rerolls, or to reroll morale from the standard. Just a thought

Dropping Heavy Weapons is a terrible idea. This list is a very good list, and hits all the right notes.

cerebaton: You've got 4 points left over, take 2 Searchlights on the Russes and a Bolter for each H-Vet Veteran Sergeant.

HBMC - thanks, but actually i'm trying to lose those 46 points, not make them up to 50

Tarval - definately don't want to lose the heavies

Combat Engineer - I'd love to fit in a Hellhound, but points are just a bit too tight at 1500 - plus, if I was having one I'd have to have two

Sorry, I'm just used to 1550 and 1850 lists... not flat 1500 ones.

Hmm... 46 points.

The only thing this army can live without is the Basilisk. If you drop it you can bring another 6 Rough Riders and stick an extra Flamer into each Platoon HQ. That brings you to 1499.

i still think 10 RR are better than 6.

Debatable, and he can't afford that anyway.

I like the list. High bodycount at 1500 will make for some tough games for your opponents.

The rule of two is very important for IG armies to follow. Dropping the Bassie and incorporating Flamethrowers and an additional 6-man RR Squad, as HBMC suggested, will serve you well. Having multiple countercharge elements will keep your opponent back from your lines for one extra turn, getting you the critical shooting time you need to take them down.

Good job on this one. Pretty solid.
