That's how I spell Nemian for my planetary regiment. I am aware that the mythological creature was spelt Nemean.

Ah, I see.

Also, to anyone else looking over this list... It kicks my ass halfway to next month.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

I'd love to know how. Hardened Fighters is the worst Doctrine in the Codex, and Carapace Armour ain't far behind.

It has no Infantry Heavy Weapons, 3 whole squads of Infantry, random vehicles, HTH geared T3 Independant Characters, and to top it all off it has Vox-Casters for added bloat!

One of the worst Guard lists I've seen in a while.

I'm aware of the general hatred for Carapace Armour.

The reason I didn't take any Infantry Heavy Weapons was because I was fighting Dark Eldar with it. I certainly wouldn't take this list to a tournament, but it works well, I find, against DE.

I'll probably swap out Hardened Fighters for Drop Troops.

Seamus must be a terrible DE player, then.

Could you elaborate on what makes this list work well against DE? It can't be all the points-sink PWs.

Meh, I'm still learning.

Also, I shouldn't say it kicks my ass halfway to next month. The last game we had was damn close.

I probably should not have phrased it that, way, sorry. I just don't see how a well-used and well-designed DE army could lose to this IG list. At least, it seems unlikely.

That's alright.

Again, I am still learning just how to win with the DE. They are tricky to get a hold of. However, in our last game, I did manage to turn the whole thing with two units: the Talos and my Lord + retinue. The Talos game in from reserves, looked around, and destroyed a Chimera, and a Stormtrooper Sergeant with it's Talos Sting, then charged and destroyed two Sentinels. The next turn, it annihilated a whole guardsmen squad. Then, it had nowhere to go, so I tried to hide it in the forest, but MinMax was wise to me by then. He shot it until it died :(

That was some crazy lucky Talos shooting.

The Power Weapons were used against his Lord and Retinue, specifically his Retinue, because it was full of Incubi.

1) Incubi are sub-par. They're deadly, but them + the Lord is almost unnecessarily deadly, and they are too expensive.

2) Did the PWs actually get to strike? At I3? It would take some miraculously bad rolling on the part of the Lord and his ret.

Anyway, MinMax, that this list can take on DE built and used by a player new to the army is no indication that it's any good. Have you read the various IG discussions that've gone around here? It would of course be boring if all IG armies looked exactly the same, but HBMC and other have a lot of good advice that would let you get far more out of 2k points than you currently are.

I know Incubi are sub-par, it's why I took Power Weaons! Made up 75-125 points, easy. Yes, they got to strike, although it was at I4, but the HSO was pretty injured, by then.

I never said it was good, I just said it works well against DE. Well, Seamus' DE, at least.

I've read the advice, but I got hooked on Carapace Armour back when I didn't have the money to buy huge amounts of infantry. Now that I do, I'll probably get rid of it.
