Well, I'm starting to recover from the AdeptiCon weekend. I'm going to try and document the weekend (took lots of pics, but catching up on RL may take a few days), but knowing Dakka, what people really want to know is what list I used to win the Gladiator tournament, so here it is:

Does a Trygon have mass points? And if so would that make him 2 heavy slots?

The trygon doesn't have mass points (which don't exist any more), but the trygon is specifically listed as a heavy support choice in the IA: Apoc book. The "two HS" rule only applies to those super-heavies/gargantuans that are listed as "supporting war machine detachments".

How'd the Trygon go during the games? Worth the effort/cost?

OK. I was thinking of the old rules. Thanks for clearing that up.

In an odd reply (my last for the day - going to sleep soon) -

It did exactly what I thought it would do. It came in, killed a few models, then promptly died within two turns. (well, in 3 of 4 games, at least). It did yeoman's work, though...the gargantuan creature stomp attack (1 attack/model engaged) and the ability to DS into assault were invaluable, so he probably killed something like...100-150 points of models each game (Except in game 1, when he decided that it really wasn't all that important for him to actually wound anyone once he'd hit them - yes, I rolled 4 1's).

But taking him down was difficult for most of my opponents, and he attracted a lot of attention, which meant that my opponents generally focused fires on him instead of the genestealers dashing out of cover/concealment. (Admittedly, I may have helped this process by making sure that my opponents were provided with a copy of the gargantuan creature rules, which outlined things like the stomp attack and the fact it could tank shock).

Equally as valuable, though, was the way that the raveners followed the Trygon.

I'm surprised you didn't take more Raveners to capatalise on the Trygon's abilities.

I wanted to...but I couldn't squeeze the points. I considered dropping either the spinegaunts, tyrant guard, and/or lictor, but I figured I'd need each one.

Spinegaunts - cheap, throwaway scoring unit to force target priority tests and/or tie things up.
Tyrant Guard - need the extra wounds on a walking tyrant
Lictor - need the re-roll to bring in the Trygon as early as possible.

Dual Monolith Chaos?

So we can't mix the new Daemon Codex with the CSM Codex, but we can bring Monoliths in Chaos. That's just not fair.

Yes Cent, I know you're tired. Go to sleep and I'll stop making fun of you.

And by 'Shooty Ork Gunline' I assume you mean 'Loota Army w/Other Orks to make it legal'. All that S7 must've been fun for you.

Hope to see you there next year...except I'll be running the Gladiator, not playing in it.

Bribes happily accepted. (They won't do you any good, but I'll take them).
