Or is that too much to ask?
I don't even always use the 1 block that I already have, so two blocks
seems like a lot. Maybe for special scenario type stuff?
It was just a thought.

It's hard to squeeze 2 units of eg in 2k-2250 army, especially as you may want to run a character with them to provide stubborn. Maybe in 3k+ games...

I think you'd have to NOT take the standard Alter Lord and base the army around the 2(or 3) blocks of Core Eternal Guard.

EG can be fielded in a few ways.
1) Death Star Build: 50+ EG with 2x Characters joining. One Highborn (nettles and ward saves) to call challenges and the BSB (oaken armour) to keep those re-rolls. This is a major tarpit unit and allows a Treeman, Wild Riders, or any rank denying unit to flank. It also preserves VP as it should never go below half.
2) MSU: 4-5 minimum EG. Think Empire. These hit harder and are more resiliant than Empire detachments. The concept is the same. The "parent" unit holds the characters and the "detachment" is a minimum no command unit that is allowed to flank or flee. If built this way each EG is approximately 120pts (similar to GG, GR, WH, or any basic unit that they would replace).
3) Hard Center: 2x 20EG with Treeman in center. The two aforementioned characters sit in one unit to provide the stubbornish re-rolls should one need it and the Highborn is kitted out to challenge (thus preventing the BSB from being called out and also preventing a hitty opponent character from whacking on the Treeman).
Hope this helps.

EG are the only static combat res generator in the WE. Chocies 1 and 3 allow the WE to capitalize on this and to save VP doing so.
To answer the OT, yes, Choice 2 allows for many small units of EG to be effective.
Let me know how they work for you.

MSU EG takes away a lot of special slot choices, right?
So what becomes your hammer units?

Take a Highborn and the EG fit nicely into the Core slots.
EG are the anvil and hammer ini the MSU. Well, you can always use GR, WR, or other HtH units to flank once you start employing the bait-flee.

What?
All EG become Core choices when you have a Highborn...examine the 'dex entry for EG.

Yes, one of the people I know uses a block of 70 and a block of either 35 or 40. That block of 70 can be charged on all sides and still win combat. A lot of people really underestimate the power of a US 70 fear causing unit.

They do if you put a BSB with the Sacred Standard of Ariel in with them. You've completely missed discussion of the Theban Legion, Malf?
