Yes, it does. Of course it doesn't exist at the moment but that doesn't mean it could do without some honest, between the eyes criticism.

I've been busy doing real life work and commissions but, somehow, I've managed to scrounge some spare time for this:

Okay, it's a big-bloody-horned-demon-not-at-all-like-the-one-with-the-name-starting-with-B. Pretty obviously not finished, but I'd like to know what that kind of model should have? What would sell? How can I take a peek at your wallet ? After all, if I'm to rob people, I should let them feel like they're making a good business .

Edit: Ermmm, I realized I haven't said the most important thing. I'm going to cast this thing and hopefully sell it via my own site ASAP (that means As Soon As I Have Money).

If it's the right size to be used as a b.... erm, bodily-fluid-drinker, no that's wrong....oh well, you know, give it some wings and a bloody great two-handed axe, that'd sell for sure. Bloody amazing work that, the veins, the muscles, just stunning.

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink.

Give it optional wings and several options of weapons: Open talons for right and left hands, right handed sword, right handed battle axe, two-handed axe, left handed sword, maybe a left handed whip. Basically let people decide what kind of demon they want.

Gah, size comparition... I knew I forgot something. It stands 95mm tall from head to hoof. About 2.5-3 times the size of your average miniature.

Just out of curiosity, why does it only have armor on the bottom? Will there be pauldrons or bracers forthcoming?

All in all, I think it looks great, I just don't get the armor. I also agree with everything Platuan4th said.

If I were to suggest types of models, I would like to see some non-daemon biggies since there seem to be a plethora of those. Big mutants, or preferably for me some large "Avatar of Faith" or something with which I could smite the minions of chaos would rock
Possibly some "Orogs" which would just happen to be the size of properly scaled Nobs and warbosses?

I'd buy it. Will it have pants? Personally I'd take the horns off, but that would be a post-purchase modification. I also think a limited, numbered run of casts would increase interest and sale value.

/What's the white stuff you use to cast? Nice site too, very reminiscent of Brom.

Nice sculpt, glad to hear he's enormous. Agreed on the weapon options, even I can't decide what hands I'd slap on that big bad.

In other news, I hope this means the cows of doom approachith?

It's still WIP so yes, there will be armor on the upper part of his body.

Actually I think a BIG cybork Warboss Biker might be something that sells. Of course it would be a Grorg, not an Ork And the avatar of light? Hmm...

Personally I find it disturbing that the bloke has protection for his hooves and not his... oh wait, he's got no cod... No wonder he's angry. I would probably add some chest armor--left side perhaps? and perhaps a loincloth of some sorts.

I dunno why, but I really see him ripping apart models... it would be great if the hands could be sculpted to allow for holding other minis, though that's a challenge.

Furled wings would also help. We've got loads of unfurled wings, but I think it makes more sense that the demon keeps them closed while he's taking names, etc.

I have to say that the veins are just sexy. I'd cover him in tattoos and run him in my slaanesh army as a Keeper of.... private thoughts

First of all, that is a VERY nice sculpt. The musculature is quite good. The naked, slightly armored, goatlegged, skull head with huge jutting horns is generic enough to suit a variety of needs.

Platuan4th wrote:Give it optional wings and several options of weapons: Open talons for right and left hands, right handed sword, right handed battle axe, two-handed axe, left handed sword, maybe a left handed whip. Basically let people decide what kind of demon they want.

I agree with everything except the thing about the wings. Giving this gorgeous model wings just wont fit. The reason being is that your musculature is so well defined that plugging wings into its back will pretty much just ruin it.

I mean, if you can sculpt wings on this as well as you did the rest of the muscles, then by all means, but I surely wouldn't buy it if the wings didn't display anatomical cohesion as the rest of the model. (As in, how the hell are you going to make the musculature blend into the shoulder blade area, assuming you would place them there? That sort of thing)

I'd definitely buy it.

[edit]

After reading geddoknights post, I think you could pull it off with furled wings. It would hide any funky join that would be otherwise noticeable.

There is definitely waaaaay too many models made nowadays with unfurled wings. Sure it looks dramatic, but not realistic. Your model looks quite realistic. Stick with the realism.

Brilliant- I love your work over on Warseer. Feel free to post it here with that frequency

As far as sales- options rule... it creates a feeling of additional value and makes the model that much more versatile.

Right, for the options it seems I can go with the following:

- a set of swords
- a set of axes
- a big axe/sword (right hand) + armored, hellboy-style glove (left hand)

Still don't know if I can make a horned/nonhorned version (it's a bit tricky to get it right).
Wings will come later when I have the basic model sculpted and mastered, as it would require some heavy conceptual work in the back section. Wings will be available in two versions - for those who like it big (unfurled) and those who like it modest (furled).
The downside is that the unwinged version won't be backward compatible with wings (no sockets)

Like every thing you have done so far for sure. Your gonna add some straps that are holding the armor on him right? Ax sword whip and open clawed hand for sure as options. Wings are really gonna be a must option if your planning on folks buying him for use as a certain un named bad@$$. And to go along with hellfury, maybe you could make a mounting plate of hair with the added muscle structure that the wings attach to that would add to his back to pull it all off. That way he can have the current work youve done and still allow the the wings to be added and have them look right. Very impressive work to be sure. Please keep us posted as I would most likely be interested in purchasing one of these.

I don't understand, why are you so good at that?

It's hard to see exactly what's going on, the modelling material seems a bit translucent, but what's there seems really great.

I think what I'd suggest, is that while you're incredibly good at physiology, texture of muscle, veins, etc., you don't want it looking too much like a big naked dude, especially around the crotch area. Build up the armor in places like that, but leave areas such as the chest, thighs, shoulders and biceps uncovered to show off lots of freakish muscular power.

Also make sure the armor is ornate and detailed, to do justice to the detail of the meat parts.

Also, I agree, a big axe would be best.

As far as getting it to sell, I think it's just a matter of making the sales channels available to people. I'm no expert on it, but if I was able to get a model of that quality in the right scale to represent a Bloodwanttodrinker (and I needed one in my list), I'd pay for it. Particularly in resin, since it'd best represent the ridiculous detail levels you've put in.

Eh, I thought the nakedness was better. It showed off the great musculature you'd done, and hey, daemons without wangs don't need loincloths (which are a bit of a fantasy cliche, really)! I liked the horns, too (okay, I know that's itself a cliche ).

Wouldn't backwards compatible wings be possible if they were "form-fitted" instead of slotted like GW's wings? I forget which company(maybe Forgeworld) has done this before, but it doesn't require anything more than models usually get put through(cleaning, pinning, puttying).

I like the more armor, but still bare-chested, etc. I'd like a gauntlet on the left fore-arm, balance-out-and-yet-not the right shoulder armor a bit.

He's looking even better HMV, nice work.

I really like the newest concept. I didn't care for the old horns. I think that form fitting wings my be a good idea, but what about two spikes/horny bits coming out of his back. These could fit into the holes that will be used to mount the wings. Also, once you have a copy maybe you could take his head off and make a helmeted version. You could make it look like the helm from the marauders.

Waaagh!

some bracers maybe? that would bulk up the wrist joint a bit and allow for a stronger bond to the hand.

if you're looking at selling them, a _choice_ of heads would be good - the horned head was great, but only if the customer actually needed a horned demonic/beasty head, the new head is more adaptable. The above suggested helmet is also a good idea.

Hmm, to be really adaptable, the same model but with 'human' feet would also be a seller.

Personally I like the loincloth - a creature which wears armour will also be sophisticated enough to grasp the concept of clothes (and/or an armoured crotchplate, the loincloth could be interpreted as covering crotch armour), regardless of modesty or genitalia.

And a choice of hands/weapons would be also good, for making it as saleable as possible

Agreed. Aside from the cliche axes/swords, what about weapons that have been grafted onto the actual body, such as chains or a mace on both hands. Maybe a sort of gun for 40k or equivalent games. Great work so far though, would work well as a daemon prince or greater daemon.

First off- this is a great sculpt. You definitely have de skeelz.

However, the loincloth seems out of place, even if it is covering his crotch.

Still amazing though
