After reading all over the internet about how bad Daemonhunter allies are considered to be, I thought I'd try to cook up a strictly IG list for the army I'm putting together. So far just got 2 Russes and the two Infantry Platoons in the process of being painted, so anything other than those are open to interpretation.

Iron Discipline
Drop Troops
Veterans
Close Order Drill

HQ

Command Platoon - 45
Junior Officer w/ Iron Discipline - 45

Elites

Hardened Veterans - 75
Veteran Sergeant
4 Veterans w/ 3 Plasma Guns

Infantry Platoon B - 240

Conscript Infantry Platoon - 98
Squad 1 - 49
Flamer
Squad 2 - 49
Flamer

Heavy Support

Leman Russ - 155
Heavy Bolter x3

Leman Russ - 155
Heavy Bolter x3

Leman Russ - 155
Heavy Bolter x3

Running total = 1313

Basically the Platoons shoot everything bigger than a terminator, the Russes take all the enemy firepower on their AV14 hulls and throw out 3 ordenance templates per turn, and the conscripts hold up any scary looking close combat units for a turn or two, or distract whirlwinds. The veterans have plasma instead of meltas to be more versatile. If the mission allows deep-strik they can go for enemy rear armour at S7 v AV10 hopefully, which with 3 BS4 shots should be pretty damaging. If they need to infiltrate they can set up in a forward position and try for Rhino equivalents, or whatever comes out of any transports the platoons crack. If they get to rapid fire, then all the better.

Still got 187 points left, and no counter-assault or mobility, so I was hoping someone could give me ideas. Possibly Inquistor in a Rhino? Canoness and Celestians in Immolator? I hate the rough rider models, so any alternative to those would be ideal.

Cheers

I'm assuming you meant Conscripts to be your 5th Doctrine choice, as you can't field them without spending a Doctrine Point on 'em.

For Mobility, you could add an Armoured Fist squad... I would recommend Rough Riders, maybe you could convert some of your own?

You could add a couple of Sentinels, I suppose... Utilizing the Drop Troops Doctrine to bring, say, Autocannons or Multi-lasers behind enemy lines?

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

3 Vet Squads is overkill.

You need a standard bearer.

You need plasma guns.

Lascannons in Platoon Command Sections = Dead Command Sections.

Flamers won't help your Conscripts in any way.

4 Squads isn't enough men.

drop the conscripts to buy more line squads, and put the lascannons in the command groups on the new line squads. also you should put a plasmagun in each line squad as special weapon. that should be about good
