I'm looking for ways to model some Tzeentch daemon princes to use in a new daemon army. Game-wise, they're going to not have wings and be shooty princes.

I want to be able to play with these models in a GW tournament - I try to go to one a year (LA gamesday) and may be going to two.

My current ideas revolve around using some robed inquisitor-scale models (Eisenhorn, Delphan Gruss), replacing the head with heads from Great Eagle or War Eagle models.

I'm not convinced on either the body choices or the head choices and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of other models that may make good heads or bodies for these princes. I'm having difficulty finding models that feel like they're the right size and look for a daemon prince but would still fit the bill as a GW model so I can use it in a tourney. I've also thought about going with things like Be'lakor or the balrog model with a replaced head, but I dont think either would look very good without wings.

The Ushabti from the Tomb Kings would work, the vulture headed one in particular.

Thanks, excellent suggestion...I remember thinking "I should look at the tomb kings stuff" but then never doing it. I think the crocodile head and vulture head Ushabti may be perfect with minor modifications

not sure bout sizes as don't play WHFB but i think it needs to be bigger for a demon prince. have to keep things either avian like the current greater daemon or wierd changy things like horrors/flamers. maybe build a huge flamer-like thing, with more control over its ever changing body (hands morphed into weapons, many faces/heads but can still tell it is a leader, not a giant chaos spawn)

oh wait, tzeentch is supposedly the master of mutation and change, whack a large blob of silly putty or play-doh on a 50mm base and claim it is a daemon prince, can then change its form every turn lol

I recently bought one of those McFarlan Dragons to chop up and convert into a DP with a Tzeentch undertone for my CSM army. You don't need the wings, and that is the main reason I bought it. But The taloned hands of that dragon are perfect. They look avian, muscled, and strong. If your feeling venturous you could use some GS and wire to make an awesome looking doom bolt of bolt of Tzeentch looking blast shooting from the hand that is open. And when you buy the Dragon you can cut both sets off, the forward and hind. So it can be used on two different DPs. Although someone is going to have smaller hands.

Edit: It was the Scavenger dragon.
